Default Chrome coating worn off plastic, fixable ?

The top plastic piece in my Large Yamato, the top arc where the balls roll off to the left has its chrome looking coating worn off. There is a nice wear path where the balls roll down.
I'm looking for suggestions to fix it up to make it look better.
I was thinking of removing the piece from the machine and sanding it clean. Then maybe use a silverish nail polish on it with a hard coat. Or, some sort of paint.
    Suggestions?

Almost everything is fixable in one way or another RKnarr01.

If I can manufacture machines that fill vials doctors use to inject you with, I can fix the top arc of a pachinko! hehehe.... lets hope.

The big problem the previous member was having was that he couldnt get the paint to match I believe.

Ah, that won't be a problem as I can change the whole part another color and it would not look out of place. In fact I was thinking of a flat black.

So the question really is, sure anything can be painted but is there another coating that needs to be applied to harden the surface? This is where the balls tend to travel. Thus the wear on the part.

Thats what i was thinking was painting it a whole different color but make sure to use a paint like Krypton from Dupon i think it is. Just make sure the paint is made for plastic if the piece your painting is plastic.

Procede with caution. Not all paint is compatable with plastic.
Try an epoxy paint, it is the toughest. Just try it in a small area on the rear of the part first. Some paint types will melt plastic!

    Thanks for all the replies!

I took the thing apart last night and sanded and painted the bad areas with a flat black paint. It looks REALLY good. Now how well it will hold up ..... we will see.

It took a whole lot of work to take apart the whole ring around the LCD screen. Lots of little parts. It was worth it just for the fact that I got to clean the insides of the clear plastic ball chutes. Plus it was kinda fun to play with the Yamato battle ship as a toy.

Now There are 2 pieces with wear next to the trap door at the bottom.....
I think I will use nail polish on those, they are very small.

Here she is in the work shop, all fixed and painted.

There is a million little pieces to that center piece and they all had to come apart.
