Default King Camel - Blown Internal Fuse

Does anyone know what voltage of the internal 12A fuse in the power supply is. My friends is cooked, I took off the power supply and the fuse was black. I expect that someone plugged it in before the transformer was installed and blew the fuse. Hopefully that is the only problem.

    Thanks Again

The voltage on fuses are usual written around one of the metal ends of a glass fuse. It is usually stamped in to the metal. Check there first should point you in the right direction.

Nope, first thing to check. Thats why I know it's 12 amp. Nothing else printed on the end of the fuse but "FUJI 12A"

If you have a voltmeter, read the voltage across the blown fuse. It is probably either 120VAC, 24VAC or 24VDC, (My guess 24VDC).

I agree... then you will be safe to use that voltage as a rating, OR any higher VOLTAGE rating. (Very good, autoslot!)

The voltage rating should be same or higher. Just don't exceed the current (ampere) rating.

From what I understand, the voltage rating is a concern AFTER the fuse blows... to prevent a possible arc across what's left.

If they plugged it into the wall before installing a transformer and the fuse is after the conversion to DC then it is quite possible that the power supply is toast.

id bet you fried the power section of the machine if it was plugged in without a transformer .the machine was ment to operate on 24v not 110v and if they applied 110 with out adding a transformer it went poof before blowing the fuse (murphy's law a $300.00 picture tube will blow before the 10 cent fuse ) good luck your nose is probably your best asset on this one nothing smells like an electrical burn smell should lead you right to the defective section .
