The only part I dont like about upgrading your PayPal account is that PayPal takes out 3% even if it was a transfer. I owed a friend $100 and had it in my paypal account. I sent him the $100 to his account which was a premier account (or whatever they call it) and he only got $97..I gave him the 3 bucks.

Chris, I agree...the fact that PayPal subsidizes it's 'free' personal accounts with the upgraded ones leads to lots of unnecessary ill will toward PayPal...if they just charged, say, 25 cents for the checking account transfers for everyone regardless of account level (obviously the credit cards charge PayPal the 2% or so that they have to recover) there wouldn't be this transition effect that folks resent.

Businesses have always subsidized home-use accounts-every single utility (phone/cable/internet/water/power/property taxes etc. etc.) used by my business location is more money than the same thing at my house. PayPal continues this irritating tradition.

The Paypal debit card was very convenient when I was selling on ebay.
I used to pay for all the shipping stuff (post office) with it.

If you win an auction and the seller does not state they will accept papal can you tell them that is the way you want to pay? If there is something wrong with the item won and you pay with money order or cashiers check does ebay help you as if it was paid through paypal?

If you pay with a money order or cashiers check and something goes south, you're SOL.

    eBay only helps eBay.

I believe that the seller pays a fee to paypal and that is why some will not take it. Years ago I paid for an item with a money order and never received the item. I was able to get my money back minus shipping through ebay. That was before ebay owned paypal so I don't know if things have changed. It took awhile but was glad to have some of my money back.

Well there were two auctions I was looking at. This one was ending first and even though I did not like this one I put a low bid on. I did not see the part about no paypal. We will see if this teaches me a lesson. I won it so now I will see. This is the auction.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5837972115

Lazarus check this out it explains how to deal with item paid for but not received through ebay. It looks like they have protection up to $200.00. http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-b...ion-steps.html Nice buy! With their feedback I will bet things go well with the transaction.

The one thing I did not like , that stood out was that he said it was new. Then in his description it was used for a year. He emailed me back saying ware did I say it was new. I told him. Never got back to me. I will probably get it but will it work and true condition it will be in? This is the second one I was looking at. But it jumped in the last little bit with some time to go. I could get one new in box for about 85.00 or so from someplace else. Just wish the second one was first. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5838152318

I think you'll be fine on this one. They have an excellent feedback rating so I wouldn't really worry that much. However I'd certainly read the ads in the future prior to bidding.
