    Default Ebay question

When an auction ends you send an invoice out. I state in the message to the buyer that I would like payment arrangements made within three days of end of auction. Is three days not enough? When do you contact buyer to see about payment if there has been nothing happening with payment?

Did you state in the auction when you wanted payment?

Has there been any communication at all from the buyer, to say if he is sending a money order, etc.??

Within 3 days of auction close is pretty good time for me. I used to an invoice, after three days, send another, 5th day start going through the ebay mumbo jumbo. 99% paid within 12 hours. only had one that went for 6 days and that was due to his wife having a baby prematurely which I fully understood.

I give mine 7 days because I'm dealing with a lot of kids buying my stuff. Got to give them a little extra time to recycle some cans and bottles or get their allowances.

I must have changed the payment message on this auction. I did not list my three days. This was one of my first auctions. This is what is in the auction for the one I am wondering about.(I prefer PayPal but I may consider a money order or crashers check. If this is so contact me. Remember the faster I get payment the faster your Item will be shipped out. Thank you.) This person has not contacted me at all. This one was the leather jacket. It sold for around 360.00 or so.

He won leather pants for over 400.00 and paid, so i wouldn't worry
I close most of my auctions on sunday, if i don't get payment by saturday i sent another email asking about payment.
Ebay says 7 to 10 days on average.

The guy will be good for it. His feedback is almost perfect and he has a lot of it.

Throw him another email and see what happened.

Well, his feedback looks OK and he's been active recently

Maybe it's best to be prudent and wait a few more days. He could be a busy person and, if push comes to shove, you still have your jacket anyway. I can understand the impatient feeling; I felt the same way last night with one of my Buyers.

The buyer looks to have good feedback, so I'd wait a while longer. Maybe something came up.
You already sent one email, right?
Just nicely ask him in another email how he intends to pay, via PayPal or ???
Say that you didn't receive a reply to your first email, and was wondering.
Bottom line, though... if it wasn't stated in the auction, you should go by eBay's suggestion... 7 to 10 days.
I know you're anxious, but don't pester him into leaving bad feedback on you.

I sent him the original invoice only. I was planing on waiting another two days before contacting him. I just wanted to know the average time most of you ask for payment to be made. I always pay almost the instant an auction was won. But other people are different.

For me, most Buyers pay within the hour after auction ending but I've started getting money order/cashier's checks so have to wait for those, of course. Got a Bidpay pending too.

A long time ago, I worked for a company similar to Paypal and there were lots of occurrences of "late" payers (this was before eBay bought and integrated Paypal into their site) but 99% of the time, their excuse was that they were just too busy.

I think your idea is best, Laz, give him a couple of days then email him, maybe he's still recovering from Thanksgiving dinner.

What does it mean when there is a paypal payment that said status unclaimed. They say it is an instant payment. Is it OK to send?

That's roughly the same status as "Being Processed", it will clear sooner or later.

Next to the unclaimed is an accept or deny. I clicked on accept and it told me if I want to accept this credit card payment that I had to upgrade my papal account and get charged the fee for credit card payments. It seems high. I said in action papal money orders or cashiers check. Do I have to get this upgrade to get my money now then specify in new auctions no credit cards?

Ah, you were talking about Paypal, I thought it was eBay you were referring to last night. Yes, you have to upgrade to a Paypal Business or Premier (?) account to accept that payment. Upgrading is free and instantaneous but you have to pay some fees on all credit card-based payments that you receive. I think it's worth it because you'd otherwise have to get a merchant's account outside of Paypal to accept credit cards and those are pretty expensive.

Now I understand, too, Laz. Yes, just go ahead and upgrade. It will cost you very slightly more in fees, but you have more security and faster payment and more willingness of buyers to spend if you have PayPal for them.

    Plus, I have eBay stock.

(just kidding... really, it is worth doing.)
