Default Make Your Case Look Like New

    Hi All,

I had been contemplating spraying the case of my new Tekken 3 machine to freshen it up a bit. Then I noticed on a thread somewhere someone recommending

    http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=260-010

I looked EVERYWHERE to find somewhere that sold that or something similar in the UK, and after an unbelievable amount of looking found these guys

    http://www.colemanbros.co.uk/index.html

You can’t order on line, but if you call them up they will charge a credit card and despatch for next day delivery. A roll that will do circa 5 machines cost £14+vat and carriage. I have just finished my Tekken and it looks $1,000,000!!!!!

Also it’s really easy to apply – far easier than painting.

Hope this is of some interest……..

Even tho I live in the US I have to say that it is great you UKers are helpin' each other out! You're certainly a growing group here on pachitalk.com and I for one want to thank you for the post.

BTW : I have a growing interest in fruit machines. Especially the Star Wars Fruit Machine that I think was manufact. in Germany. Have you seen it?

    Hey,
Firstly, thanks for the thanks. Secondly, no I haven’t seen the SW machine – I have only just got my first machine so I am very much a newbie, but I have got ‘the bug’ already. Bigtime!
Yeah, we UKers have to help each other out as you USers have all the best stuff!!! (Though you are normally happy to send it here, providing we bay the carriage )
    Cheers

Did you have to sand first? Does it leave little bumps?

Here are some pix. The machine is in the spare room just now as it is really a surprise Christmas present for the Wife – she is an absolute gamble-a-holic!!

As you can see the finish is pretty good to say the least. I didn’t do any sanding, but my case was in good shape already, just light scratches and faded. If there were significant imperfections or lots of stickers I would try to sort these first before I wrapped. The fact the material is thin (though it doesn’t look it once applied as you can see) has the benefit that you can easily do the whole machine in one piece as it will easily bend around the corners. I did the whole job in about 1 hour.

The material was very easy to apply without bubbles, and trimming the edges was really easy with a sharp scalpel. There has been no problem covering screw rebates though, you know – where the hinges screw into the case etc. These holes are covered and are not visible.

Hope this helps, any more question I would be only too pleased…..

EDIT by Slotter: to make pics line up in a row for easier viewing.

Just a regular scalpel from B&Q. I just couldn't believe how easy it was to get it right. Even if I had a wobbly bit it was always 'excess' and it was just a case of running the knife down the edge one more time to remove it.

Thanks for all the complements guys - though it really was the material not me

I seen that Star Wars slot from Germany,it was on ebay about 2 years ago, there were only 50 made I was told. Very cool machine but it talked in German. It was huge, twice as big as your normal slot, shipping was like $800.00 ouch

No the product isn't on the web site, but as soon as I get home (I'm at University until 21:00) I'll have a look for the product code on the paperwork. It might also be worth pointing out I used the 45cm width, but it is available in a 90cm width should anyone need it. Post ya later!!

    P.S. I am studying a Masters Degree in 777

Yes, that's the same laminate I use from Parts Express, linked above. Great stuff. Arby once used a blonde version of that as well. Looked really nice. I have always bought the black.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.
