Hey "lucky dog", yes the vendors do have some of the info i am talking
about of thier site, but not quite what I have in mind:

how about detailed info about packaging, any cool extras, like
stealth's coiled key chain (w/ eye hook on the machine).
if one vendor packaging is better then anothers, or....

sure maybe you can get the majority of the info from the site,
but let me ask you this "how long would it take you ?"
10-20" minutes if not more, when with a couple of clicks you
could see it all in one spot as well as past/present customers
comments on the vendor (YES which again i am well aware of
is contained in the many hundedreds of posts on the great board.

LET ME ASK OF THE "PACHITALK" Regulars, if this is a waste
of time speak now and I will drop the hours of work it entails,
I was only looking for a way to make it easier for people to
comapre vendors, see their pros & cons and maybe for the vendors
to find little ways to make the excellent service even better.

...I am ready to drop the whole idea right now, if the pep's
think its a waste of time and they rather search for the info.
then no biggie. I thought I was helping....
(and I'm not singling anyone out, the mases are hinting that
they thinks it s waste of time)

but I guess I was wrong.
so maybe we will just forget about it.

    thnx for listening

Why not put your poll question... in a poll?
Then see the results from there?

TULSA, thats was actually one of my 1st thoughts, then after thinking
about it was was thinking of making it with code and having hyper links
and a section where users can leave a short comment
and a basic rating system PACHI STYLE!.

I deal with Gaku because of his location to me, his great service and how I was treated on my first visit there. I have seen from responses here that I would do good dealing with Stealth and Arby also. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and this forum can make or break a dealer. I really don't see a need for a poll, it's all right here. If I lived close to Stealth he would get my buisness and there is no one other then Arby that I would buy a pachinko from when that time comes.
Pachislos: Alien, Azteca Returns, Death Valley, Guts, Gamera HGV, Hokuto No Ken, Jet Set Radio, Mephisto, Oasis, Speed Racer, Surprise, Twenty Seven, Thunderbirds, Wild Wolf
Pachinkos: Blooming Field, Casino, Freddy vs Jason, Horror Mansion, Indiana Jones, Julie, Lucky Boat of Seven God, Popeye, Spiderman

Default Re: Vendor "NOT A Polling" System

The idea fleshed out some and is no longer a POLL, but
more of a "Cross Refference" type chart showing the
PRO"S and CONS of Each Dealer, (Plus a small user comment section)
and keep in mind not CONS in a BAD WAY, just some vendors have
some way of doing things that are better then other vendors.

BUT SINCE THE OPNIONS OF THE PACHITALK MEMBERS
believe this is a useless feature, I dont plan on pursing
this futher, ...why bother when everyone say's it's not needed
and that the information is already there.

...SO GO AHEAD AND WASTE 1/2 HOUR TROLLING THE WEBSITES
LOOKING FOR INFORMATION TO SEE WHAT DEALER MAY BE BEST FOR YOU.

Most the of dealers here are great -- THATS A FACT!!!!

...can they be better, or course, there is always room for improvment
    THAT IS THE AMERICAN WAY.

I believe this feature would help along those lines, but since
the majority of PACHITALK users this its useless and redunent.

then as always in american MAJORITY RULES.
... i'm begining to regret ever bringing it up.

    peace, i'm outa here.

wow, you just posted a few time and you are already kicking us in the pants, because we are not jumping to your idea. How many hours have YOU worked to set this board up,
Your idea is very short sighted, It cuts both ways. And if you would have been around and listened you would have learned that.
This is a hobby board! NOT judge and jury of vendors, by reading you learn to make your own judgement as to who you wish to deal with. Numbers don't do that for you.
I might have smiled and over looked you out burst, But day 14, I be a little short with fools.
Remember this is FREE, if you don't like us, please leave us in your bliss.
That is what I would have said if I was not the guy I am, I will just smile and know, you will do better.

New ideas are always welcome, but a poll would tell you if members are really intrested in them.

I make suggestions, but leave it to the mods to take them or not.

I don't keep bugging them about my ideas

suggestions are great, but to set up a judgement of vendors is NOT the route we wish to go, so he can go forth and write his own mission statement.

We would not dream of holding him back, start your own board and set it up and do it.

Yes we talk about good vendors and about bad ones, but we talk about bad ones that change and do a better job.
How else would they want to do better ?

We are not a hammer, we are a hobby

    GUYS,

HEY, I realize this is a board and open forums where everyone'
can post thier ideas, comments and suggestions to help make PACHI
better for ALL. (and maybe have a little fun along the way)

first off I was'nt trying to BASH anyone, and everyone keeps hoping
on the word POLL when clearly this was a first thought that quickly
changed as can be seen from later posts.

I apoligze if it seems like I might have taken or made any responce
in the wrong light, I will just slink back into the shadows and apoligze
    if I caused anyone slight.

    thnx

    Guys,

just to clear things, I am attaching an example of what I had in mind,
keep in mind that I WAS NOT TRYING TO MAKE IT A JUDEMENT THING
OR TRYING TO PUSH ONE VENDOR AHEAD OR ANOTHER, OR BAD MOUTH
    ANY VENDOR.

The Idea was to list the vendors attrabutes and how they do
things so that if perhaps they might be able to do something
better then they would be able to see how others are doing things
and perhaps improve even better service..

it's my fault for not expressing what I was trying to achieve
in clearer terms., since almost everything i said was taken in the
    wrong light.

    http://www.stupidjobs.com/TEST.xls

Now, I'm not trying to single out any vendor with the info contained
in the test example, I just didnt have time to do more then one
vendor at this time, also the inital idea to to make it software with
an area of users comments .

again, so to reiterate, so this infomation is not taken in the wrong
light, ITS NOT IN ANY WAY BASHING OR FAVORING ONE VENDOR
OVER ANOTHER, its a way where PACHITALK members and the vendors
would be able to see how others are doing things any possibly look
for way to maybe improve thier already stellar service.

..SO IF ANYONE IS STILL OFFENDED BY ANYTHING SAID IN ANY
or my responces I apoligize, if I make any additionals post on
any subject I WILL TRY TO MORE MORE EXPLICIT AND CLEARER
in terms of what I might be referring to on that perticular subject.

I would add the ebay ID as well.

Back in the late 90's when I bought my first machine there was a guy who did a great job making a spread sheet for machines. It showed how much it sold for and the number sold, etc. It was great to see the price trend of a particular model, but after awhile the guy got burned out and the resource dried up. It was time consuming to scan ebay's completed list.

Arbycoffee has a complete list he posts fairly frequently that lists vendors names, addresses, phone numbers, website, etc...

The one thing I see you adding is a comment box and possibly the discount given. Of course the comment box is sorta your point to the whole thing.

I don't know enough code to make a "Live" form for this. It would have to be a constant updating by someone to add the comments. The basic info once done is done and could be made a sticky. Arbycoffee may have already done his list as sticky though and we could edit it to reflect some more info such as the discount given, ebay ID, etc. if needed.

I like your enthusiasm, but think our weakest link will be the updating. I am sure you don't want to be bombarded with emails asking you to input the users opinion. It sounds great now, but after a short while it won't be so fun anymore when people bug you why their comment hasn't been added.

A single one time list would work until we have an automated system for voting or what not.

    Dave,

Actually, I was thinking of Coding it (PHP, Perl, or Java etc..) and
making it an applet linked via the boards, so it could be ADMINISTRAED
and automated, at least that was the inital idea.

Of course the inital list I posed is a work in progress, its off the
top of my head and I know I forgot things, but I wanted to post
an example so people would see what it was about before saying
its been done and what not.

AGAIN, its just a way to show vendors wyas of doing things, as
well as a way for poeple to post the comments on dealing w/ vendors
in one general place, instead of having to search the forums.

    thnx

I will make my comments short and sweet.

First:of all this was a suggestion and should have been put in the suggestion area.

Second: no one here in their right mind will ever question the amount of time and effort that is put in by the Admins and Moderators.

Third : since when do we poll for suggestions? Is this a new rule? If so then post it accordingly so the next person doesn't make that mistake.

Fourth:Thanks again ssdcinc for trying as it was a good idea that needed some adjustments plus that you were willing to keep it up to date. Better luck next time and use my first comment next time

YES GRANTED THIS WAS A FORM OF A SUGGESTION AND
SHOULD AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSTED IN THE SUGGESTION
SECTION. -- I apoligize for that, I actually didnt really
notice the suggestion section till after the fact.

..since many people from diffenect places use this board,
terminalogy is a big disadvantage sometimes, as in this case,
since i was just mearly looking to see if the suggeston was worth
merrit and was lookkng for shout backs regarding it, not being
badgered for posting in the wrong section, saying that the information
is already available, when people were not seeing the whole picture.

actually, in my opnion, people were comming down on me
for actually making any suggestion in the 1st place and
making me feel i should never have bothered posting.
..of couse i could be totally off base, its just the impression
i got from reading the posts.

That looks like a heck of an idea. We can add PHP/Mysql.

You might scour the internet to see if something is already made for something like this. vbulletin.com is a good start.
