Exclamation ATTENTION PACHINKO FANS: Collecting questions for Pachinko FAQ

    Hi all,

As some of you may know I've been putting together a glossary together (part one of which is here). I'm in the process of doing research for part two, which will be gameplay terminology and concepts.

Part three of this series will be an FAQ so I will need you guys to submit questions for it, in addition to the few general ones that I have. So, please post in this thread if you have any questions at all about pachinko: specific ones about machines, playing them, the industry, the players, the manufacturers, whatever you want. Please note, though, that I may end up throwing out some (especially those related to mechanical or technical issues as those things have already been documented elsewhere on these boards).

Anyway, you guys will have approximately a month before I write this thing up, so fire away!

I've read them but they focus mainly on the technical and basics about gameplay. I'm hoping you guys can shoot me questions that are more specific. If I don't get enough questions or you guys don't feel it's necessary than I will gladly strike down this volume of the project, saves me time anyway. Let me know.

Things that I'd like to see,

Good beginner Pachinkos, ie good play value at a reasonable price.

How many balls needed for reasonable play, ie: not refilling all the time.

    cleaning tips!

    Cheers,
    James

Kind of hard to say, Jon... without seeing part two.
The questions may already be answered there.

So, I'll wait until you finish that part.
    No rush.
This afternoon sometime will be fine.

You might want to search the boards for these topics, I believe they have been covered. I'll consider your other question though.

Are pachinko wire schematics in metric ?
Surly the makers of pachinko 's know that they are being bought over here, why don't they make machine manuals in dual language ?

    How about:
Manufacturers and how they rank (size, prestige, machines produced)
How to play in the parlors (etiquette, rules, etc...)
    Techniques for winning
Machine types (are there lineages? basic things that differentiate them into categories)
Measurements (general size, weight, power requirements)
How to mount or otherwise position a unit in your home (and that the backs are generally open)
Links to useful material (play guides, reviews, etc...)
Latest trends (what are the latest trends in Pachinko's, large screens, 3D animation, interactivity, moving parts, ???)

Wow! Talk about a thread from the dead... 5 years...

Rupan777 hasn't been on the site in over a year so unless someone else picks it up, there may never be a part 2.

It would be nice if we had a translator for all of the Japanese writing that show up with the character interaction scenes. I am sure (not being able to speak or read Japanese) that what being said is critical to the gameplay that is yet to happen.
A lot of times, since I have played a lot of pachinko machines, I have heard some of the same phrases on all of the machines. Yet I don't know what they are saying! Pretty agravating. I am waiting for voice to voice translation machines to become available shortly.

    Thanks, Jerry

Since I'm writing an article about pachinko for a website, I'm happy to write a long-awaited part 2 of the FAQ. I will probably end up with much more research and observation than will be necessary anyway.

For part 2 of the FAQ, I will probably use some of the existing questions/ideas in this thread, but will be happy to take more. Please note that I don't know about pachinko from the hobbyist's perspective, so if you have questions about maintenance, repairs, be sure to ask your question in a thread on the proper forum. I can, however, answer questions from a player's or historical perspective. I'll come back to this thread every so often within the next couple of months, so ask away!

You should probably have something related to cabinets on there since they are important.
i'm not sure if that's covered already tho.

I know very little about cabinets, unfortunately. I won't be able to answer many questions about pachinko and pachislo as a collector or hobbyist because I do not own any machines myself. I can, however, answer questions you might have about the two games as they are played in Japan, or about the industry, history, etc.
