A large power transformer is important. Your transformer needs some 'headroom' to properly handle the load it's asked to perform. Transformers are heavy and they generate heat so mounting/placement are important considerations also.

all use transformers just some have them built in the power supply some are designed to run on 24volts supplied by the parlor directly and need one installed to run by them selves......

Would the transformer on a Babel be located within the power supply box?

It's generally mounted against the back wall or on the base where the over-flow tray generally fits. They are too big to fit in the power supply box.

Now, I gave my Babel away as a Christmas present last year and can't check to see if it's a 24 volt (requiring the transformer) or 100 volt unit.

I will have to look further. I thought the power supply box was too thin to house a transformer.

my Rai Rai Goku and 6 Monks are power supply only, no transformer on either one, both Eleco models.

I don't know if TDC replaced the power supply or installed a transformer within the power supply to get the voltages where they need to be. Being very new to this, I guess it has what it is supposed to.

Oh yeah I finally tested it out and the higher amperage did the trick.
