Tech: My pachislo cuts off briefly during jackpot.

During the bonus/jackpot rounds it'll shut off briefly while paying off. I checked the transformer and the output voltage is 24vac while the game is sitting there doing nothing..

Should I check the voltage while the jackpot round is going to see if the voltage drops?

Also, would it be better to put a 5 or 6 amp transformer to help prevent this??

It's a 3amp transformer. Would upgrading to a 5amp hurt anything?

3amp is really low. I think thats the smallest transformer ive heard of in a pachi. I'd recommend a minimum of 5 amp.

Also which machine is this on? Did this transformer come with the machine from the vendor?

Ye's the transformer that is in it came with it. Got it from an internet site. Don't recall who it was off hand.

Are they ususally only held in the cabinet with 1 screw? seems kinda cheezy.

Anyways, I have a 5amp on the way.

Just make sure when you install the new transformer you have the wires connected correctly, its an easy way to ruin a machine. take it from me!

they are usually secured by atleast 2 screws

it wont hurt a bit to go higher the machine will only draw what it can use ......i find it odd that your reading 24 volts while its doing nothing though....if it where going out on thermal it should have no output .......intresting . hook up the new transformer to your meter oh a high ac scale first before hooking it to your machine if you hook it backward it becomes a step up transformer not step down.the machine would indeed blow up with a 4:1 increase in voltage........can you say BOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!

Anyway, I had an old machine with an itsy bitsy transformer in it. It was some insanely low thing that calculated out to about 2.3A. The lights kept dimming when I spun the reels. A new transformer of a more 'normal' amperage fixed up all the troubles.

you cant starve a pachi they tend to get very angry and call upon the fire gods to infest your home !!!!! so feed your pachi only well raised beefy transformers your worth the few dollars more !!!!!!

Dont pachislo machines use powersupplys while pachinko uses simple transformers?

all use transformers just some have them built in the power supply some are designed to run on 24volts supplied by the parlor directly and need one installed to run by them selves......

Well I got the 5amp ps today. My meter shows it at like 25.4vac. But when I put the meter on it I saw no difference when I switched the meter leads. I got the same reading either way. Same thing with the old one. In any event I hooked it up and it's working fine for now. I'll have to wait til I get a jackpot to see if I solved the problem or not.

a transformer is a.c. like a light bulb it doesnt care about polarity but hook 110v to the secondary and youll find 400volts on the primary coming out that will do the damage . since you read 24-25 volts you did it right .you should notice a diffrence when it comes to bonus rounds unless you have a problem that wasn't related to power at all.......

As mentioned, it's an AC tranformer, polarity switches back and fourth across both output wires. The incident mentioned above for your caution was when you use the 110v input side to the machine and the 24v output side to the 110 wall plugs. Then the transformer does it's best Cheech and Chong impersonation of "Up in Smoke".

My transformer must be a cheaper one. It's idiot proof. Nothing exposed. Just double checked w/ the meter.
