Greg, where do you buy Ever Clear?

I might try each of the products suggested to see which does the best job.

This has been a really informative thread, thanks to vespacar for starting it.

Everclear is not legal in all states. (Same states the dislike Pachislos?)

If you're using it around plastic, high % Isopropyl Alcohol is good, and very safe for the plastic. it softens most adhesives, but doesn't really dissolve them, so you still have to wipe the goo off.

Goof Off can mess up plastic, use with care.

Goo gone may deserve a similar warning, but I haven't had a bottle lately.

I got some citrus based stuff at Wal-Mart, the best part of it is the scraper built into the lid of the bottle

WD-40 is pretty good at softening adhesive and pretty gentle on plastcs as well.

I'd forgotten about WD-40, but it does work well, too!

Arby, you sadden me with your use of Ever Clear. I get all weepy eyed just thinking how that sweet elixir is going to waste polishing pachinkos when it should be going into the punch bowl with the other fixin's, ya just can't have a bowl of Kickapoo joy juice without it.

You can get Ever Clear at the liquor store. It's good for drinkin' and cut and scrapes.

You have to be careful using paper towels, they contain metals and wood fibres that scratch (we did a science experiment that showed that some paper towels actually rust!). I use car buffing cloths and cloth diapers, or those new microfiber dish cloths (for tough stains).

A product called "Undo" was the best I found at removing stubborn labels without causing any damage to the plastic. One of the unusual features of Undo is that it allows you - why, I've never exactly been sure - to stick the label BACK on after removing it as long as you don't remove the sticky stuff underneath with a rag or paper towel. It used to cost about $8 for a small bottle. Now, they seem to have been bought out by Quickie, and 4 oz of the stuff was around $8 at Home Depot. It has a black plastic contraption to help push off the labels. I had taken the one from the 1 oz bottle I finished and used it with Goo Gone. Now I use the one on the Quickie for that bottle, and the old one with the Goo Gone. I generally use the Goo Gone for the easy to get to stuff, and the Quickie/Undo for the "get under the label" harder ones.

I know jukeboxes, arcade, and pinball machines are different than pachis but when my grandfather had his bussiness(retired) he would buy those white and blue car detailing cloths from wal-mart and have grandma throw a bunch of them in with each load of laundry she did until they were washed at least 20-30 times then he called them "ol rags" sometimes grandma would say "yes dear they have been washed over 20 times" when they hadn't been washed but 2-3 times. After work grandpa would come home and say "Rosie, those towels hadn't been washed as much as you said they had." never new how he knew but whatever.... Finally he bought grandma a new washer dryer and took the old ones to his shop and did his own towel washin.

He knew how many times they had been washed because until they get washed that 20 or so times, they just weren't absorbent or soft enough.

I use those too for a variety of purposes, but again, never on plastic - too risky that they have hard fibers. I'd stick with well washed rags, auto buffing rags (soft materials) and washed diaper cloth myself.

For occasional cleaning I use photographic kimwipes which are a high quality paper and a light spray that is a photographic standard (drop of dove dishwashing soap in a large quantity of distilled water with a small quantity of isopropanol alchohol added ). Sorry I don't have the formula handy, but it's likely all over the internet. Just look up cleaning telescope optics.

Of the three cleaners suggested for removing masking tape and tape residue from the reels on our Spin Luck, Scot's Citrus Clean, Goo Gone, and Ever Clear, we ran across Goo Gone first. Tried the Goo Gone and it did a quick job of removing the tape and sticky tape residue. No problems.

    Thanks for the cleaning tips!

I use Sprayway stainless steel cleaner on the chrome and stainless token trays.
It is realy a fine mist of lemon scented mineral oil, it also works great on tokens, keeps then micro lubed. spray, then towel off.

Ever Clear is for drinking! Isopropyl alcohol (especially alcohol prep pads like those the Dr. wipes your skin with before an injection) is a great cleaner. It dries real fast, safe around electronics, and does a good job of softening adhesives. For really tenacious adhesives, I also have used WD-40 with good results.

Here are the 3 best items needed for Cleaning your machines and I will put these items used together against all commers. For ease of use, for cleaning properties, surface finish retention and polish, shine and surface feel.
1 WD40 for removing the glue and or unwanted stickers, removing the smoking tar and stains on the plastic case as well as the metal surfaces. Without being acidic and caustic to your Plastic finishes. SIMPLE GREEN AND THE ORANGE CLEANERS ARE MUCH TO CONCENTRAITED FOR THE FINE POLISHED PLASTIC FINISHES and yes they do dull finishes.
Item #2 a cotton cloth or chamois and nothing else! All paper products are made of wood and Scratches the plastic causing swirls to be seen on every surface even if the surface looks shiny you will see all of the crazes. also paper products cause static to build on these surfaces attracting dust.
After wiping off the wd40 with many fresh cloths comes the final clean and polish using item #3 Brillianeze. Not only does it clean it leaves a very sharp polish (Reflections are clear not dull) it is ANTISTATIC and for the most part is FINGERPRINT proof. I have used this in my motorcycle shop on Extremely HIGHEND bikes for 13 years. It is one of the few Plastic Polishes
Certified by the FAA for use on AiRCRAFT windshields and what I used on the planes I have flown. It is used exclusivly by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (My work place) on all of their display cases after I recommended it and they had it tested in their labs for its properties. another of which is that it inhibits yellowing of clear plastics with time. After using this very sparingly (Its good to use in a fine atomizer bottle) You wont believe what the surface feels like as well as looks. If anyone cleans there machines with these items and then tries something else that is better I will NEVER POST A MILLION GOD SENTENCE AGAIN! And I dont work or have any interest in these products.
Of course if you already have surface scratches they will not be removed with these items. http://www.brillianize.com/index.html
One more detail item use Formula 2001 not armorall for Tokentrays, hoppers and all black plastic surfaces as well as wire sleeves and rubber trims. Not to be used on plastics with chrome or clear plastic as it leaves a residue .

Thanks! I will try the plastic polish, I like the web site, it has a picture of my motorcycle on it! (GL1800 black) I used 3m plostih polish to de-haze the clear plastic on my last bike (1986 gl1200) I liked the 3m but it was a cream and was like a buffing compound, restored hazey plastic to nice and clear, But I am not married to it and would like something easier to use.

I buy clean rags from a local linen service... they sell the rejects after they are washed and rejected by the bag cheap.
