Default volume control on thunder model

Hi there. I got a thunder machine last week and its great but its real loud. I don`t like playing it in the evening incase it disturbs the neighbours.
I read all the threads about modifying volume settings but i wanted to start with simply adjusting the setting on the machine but i can`t find the button.
it seems im looking for a 3 position switch but ive searched high and low and just cant find it

Not all machinens use the three button switch, some actually use pots. Trace the wires from the speakers, that should take you to whatever is used.

If that fails install your own.

there is two thunder machines I know of and by now might be another one,

    THUNDER
    MANUFACTURER * Aruze/Eleco/Macy
YEAR OF PRODUCTION * (PRE) 2000
    THEME * Storm
    BONUS GAME * None
COMMENTS: How about a weather theme? Thunder and Lightning!! Why not, there is a theme for almost everything else today!! This machine is made by MACY Corporation. This machine is like the UNIVERSALS With great graphics! Great lighting (back lit reels), lit stop buttons! Bright Silver chrome makes this machine really stand out!

    THUNDER VII
    MANUFACTURER * Aruze/Eleco/Macy
    YEAR OF PRODUCTION * 2001
    THEME * Storm
BONUS GAME * LCD Video Screen
COMMENTS: Here is a GREAT fun Macy Thunder machine with the 8 inch color LCD display below the reels. The video display shows a super human man curled up in a ball waiting for the bonus to be hit. Once it hits, he springs to life! Although no body parts are showing except for the butt, it may not be suitable for small children. This is not an adult or "X" rated machine.

Technically 22[1].gif, the names of the two machines are:

    Thunder-V and Thunder-VII (V2)

I'm pretty sure that's it because the maker, Macy, has been swallowed up by Aruze and they have not bothered reviving the series for some reason.

Were there not even early models named Thunder ?
    I plainly don't know.

No, there weren't especially since, even when Macy was around, they didn't have the financial power to produce many machines. I think the "V" probably means "victory".

get your self 2 resistors (50ohm 10watts) like the volume thread says.. hook it in to the + of the speaker and it is quiet... and its easy to do too... its an very easy way to make things quiet.. and if you want you can put clips on the resistor so you can bypass it whenever you want to hear a bit more noise...

Just checked that tip, and found the RadioShack links to be outdated... so I've updated it for everyone.
That's an easy solution that I've used with good results... and NO problems.

I don't know if it's too late, but for anyone who hasThunder V2, just like on Aztec Legend Returns, the volume control is activated via the reset menu. I know this won't apply to the first Thunder model, but for V2, when you start the machine in "reset" mode the resulting menu has a "sound" option/icon. Highlight that, click the "O" button, and you should see two sides - one with all the sounds the machine generates, and one with numbers, running from higher to lower. (1-300, approximately). We found a setting of around 30 gives enough "oomph", without disturbing anyone. Experiment with it until you find what works best for you. The key to making the setting "stick" is that after you find the best number, you have to click "x" to get out of the sound menu option. Once you do that, you must pull down on the joystick, the turn to reset key to "off". That puts you back in play mode, and you should have the volume setting you picked while in reset mode. Unfortunately, while this works on Thunder V2 and Aztec Legend Returns, it doesn't work on the first Aztec Legend and/or doesn't exist on the first Thunder model. That model requires additional volume controls. We've been very happy with Syscom's volume controllers.

(NOTE: These controllers need to either be soldered to the speaker wires inside the machine, or else, what we've done, is solder wires to the controllers first, then just patch them into the machine like a regular pot. These controllers are very small, can be placed out of the way but with easy access in just about any machine. It just took us a while to get the hang of soldering wires to them.)
    Hope this helps.
