    Default A GREAT Simple Salad!

I love a good salad! Often, that's a supper for me. I love a good salad dressing too, Roquefort, a good Bleu Cheese (I always give it an extra kick by adding crumpled Bleu Cheese or Gorgonzola), oil & vinegar, Ranch, those are my top four, depending on the salad, of course.

Today at work I decided I'd fix a small salad for supper. Now I doubt this is very original, but it was good!

I did it the quick and simple way, I bought a package of iceburg lettuce, with red cabbage and carrot slivers.

I also bought a small (but expensive...sortta) package of Nature Sweet vine ripened cherry tomatoes (they still have pieces of the vine on them).

Rather than use one of my top four dressings, I decided to use just plain old Kraft Miracle Whip salad dressing.

Okay, pretty good, so far. But then I added the kicker...some shredded bar-B-que pork, sans sauce.

Salt and course ground pepper (a lot), mixed well, and enjoy!

    Yummy!!

    Here's my favorite recipe.

    1. Raise my voice ever so slightly "Honey, what do we have to eat?"
    2. Look extremely pitiful
    3. Turn down the first two items offered. I don't want to appear easy.
    4. Tell the dog, he's got his own food.
    5. Enjoy what she made me and make a big deal of it so she'll do it again.

Usually ready in 15 to 20 minutes.
Serves one plus the dog who always gets some anyway.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

Oh geez. Someone else eats those dam*ed egg things. I used to date someone (who couldn't cook) that INSISTED on those things every morning for breakfast. Just because of the bad memories of that relationship I'm very against eggs inside of bread.

I honestly didn't know anybody else had ever even heard of it, though.

As for recipies, I got one that'll gross y'all out. My father's family is originally from the eastern hills of TN, so that has something to do with this...

    - day old (or older!) cornbread, if it's not growing too much mold to flick off, you're good
    - fresh COLD buttermilk

Fill large glass with cornbread crumbled into large chunks. Pour cold buttermilk over the bread until it is soaked up by the cornbread chunks and glass is full. Add pepper. Drink and try not to vomit.

Dad drinks this crap whenever Mom makes cornbread. I used to have to leave the room.

Have you folks ever tried daikon sprouts in salad before? Very healthy and give the salad a kick; the sprouts have a sort of radish-like flavor.

I've never tried it with the daikon sprouts, but daikon radishes are good!

I hated buttermilk, until I had to drink it in the hospital. Now I love it.

Here is one I loved while growing up. Still like them, but can't get the wife and kid to eat them so don't have them very often.
    1 can SPAM
    1/2 block of Velveta
    1 yellow onion
    1 package of hamburger buns

Using a hand held cheese shredder, shred SPAM, Velveta and onion into large mixing bowl. Mix together well (hands work best). Take tops and bottoms of hamburger buns and spread with mixture. Place hamburger bun halfs with spread facing up on cookie sheet and place under broiler until cheese melts and top begins to brown. I like mine best when the edges of the bun get crisp.
    and a few others.
