    Default Important Please Read!

Just finished a broad check of different transformer that come with different machines and the ones built inside (100v systems like Harley Davidson, Spin Luck, Addams Family, Beast Sapp to name a few)

Those transformer that are 100v input and 24v out put. These put out 30.43v to 30.44v when plugged into 120v systems of this country.

Machines like Beast Sapp that is 100v, you just plug it in. inside the system it is putting out from 30.43v to 30.44v. This is the reason the LEDS are burning out so quick.

If you are running a Pachinko or Pachislot with a transformer made for operation in Japan, you need to change that Transformer to an American made 120v input with an 24v out put as soon as you can.

The machines are only rated to vary 10% above the 24v.

On the pachislot machines (100v systems) I am not sure if there is a transformer that takes 120v input and 100v output to run them correctly.

I checked my incoming voltage and it was during all test 120.07v to 12.09v.

So this is a problem we should be addressing, I think.

    Power Volt, Inc. a smt-6-24-rtc (RTC: Auto-resetable thermal cut-out)
These are designed to run 27/7, they are 120v input and 24v output. But I am sure there are others. Milt at Stealth Home Amusement 888-798-1761 (Toll-Free) carries and uses them.

SO you are saying that if your machine is from Milt you are ok?

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

If it has the USA made Transformer in it, but I don't know about before he went to them. as to what he used or didn't.

Check the top of the transfoormer and see if it is american made, I think you would be safe there if it is.

There was another post on here somewhere about a company that sold a device that would step the 120+ volts down to 100 volts and the cost was not all that expensive. If I can find it later I will repost it.

we opened all the 100v systems and got the voltage inside, so we need to find a step down

So you're saying the Japanese make two distinct kinds of power supplies for their pachislos, 24V and 100V but the 100v actually steps it down to 24v?

    Why make both then?

Sorry I didn't make myself clear.

the machines like HD or spin luck come here at 100v systems built in.
well they work at over 30v when they are plugged into 120v we have.
30v will burn out the LEDs faster and age the machine faster too!

So do I have this right? The step down transformer that David R posted I plug a number of machines into as long as I don't go over the wattage of the converter I get. Then it is only putting out V to all machines plugged into it. Do most machines use an average wattage at peak play? Or what do you think I should figure as a max wattage for the average machine so I know what size to get. Do you think it would be best to get two or three and plug separate banks of machines into, instead of one big one?

The extra voltage would be felt on incandescent lamps that are connected directly to the AC output (not regulated).
But wouldn't the electronics (including LEDs) be powered by regulated DC power supply circuits?
If anything (other than the incandescent lamps) would be working harder, it would be the regulators... right??? The voltage out of them should stay constant, with the additional power dissipated by the regulators themselves (as heat).

Has anyone measured the actual DC voltage on these machines in question?

OK... the Beast Sapp (and Hanabi Hyakkei, etc) type machines are the ones that seem to be having problems with LEDs burning out. And even then, only in the reel lights.

I really think it's more of a poor circuit design for those lights (not enough current limiting), or a defective design in those tri-color LEDs, than it is a question of transformer voltage.

Other LEDs in these (and other machines... including credit displays, etc) don't have this problem. Follow my thoughts???

I've had my Harley machine on for lord knows how many hundreds and hundreds of hours just to look at and never have had a problem with lights or anything else. I'm thinking this is not a particularly big issue.

(Am hoping anyhow... knocking on wood.)

Well if Beast Sapp (and Hanabi Hyakkei, etc) type machines are the ones in question, we are simply dealing with a single manufacturer. Even at that a single run from that manufacturer. I've only had one reel light problem on any of my machine and of course it was a VG machine they sent to me that way. Eric at Pachinko Pallace supplied me with the correct lights for it since of course VG sucks. However once fixed, it works just fine.

I had the belly glass bulb go out on my Spin Luck but that was a simple florescent bulb, changed and it's chugging right along. Lets face it folks, I've had the same machines running longer than most of you without any signs of this anomaly.
