    Default Building Pachislo Stands

I am in the process of building stands for my Pachislo machines and I am looking for some advice from those of you who have done something similar. I am putting together two different types of stands. The first holds three machines in a row all facing the same direction, the second holds six machines, 3 machines in a row back to back.

Do most people use 16" as the depth for a single machine stand? When building a back to back stand how much space do you leave between machines? Lastly, do you fasten the machines to the stands in any way? They seem very tippy when the door is open.

    Cheers.

I have our carpenter working on one now, the 6 machine bank you are speaking about is going to be really heavy and really wide. Will not fit through conventional doors. You have to remember airflow behind the machines. you might be able to pull it off but even at 32 inches thats tight.

Here's what he told me he is doing. I wish I could find the sketch. The stand is 20 inches deep, 30 inches high and 6 feet wide. He is using 1/4 round moldings to make a place for the machine to sit in so it does not slide around the top. The base is going to have three doors.

Each door under the machine will open up for storage, and a shelf with coin collection tray will be there to collect the overflow. He is cutting a slot in the top to line up with the slots that exist in the machines. Just have to figure out a method for them to drop down and not into the machine. Some kind of funnel, but thats easy enough.

A centralized power strip inside and a single cord outside. Some fancy trim around the bottom and top, some fancy doors and it shold look nice. I toyed with adding something overhead to mount a neon 'Slots" sign, but not sure yet.

I can't seem to locate it now.

    That's Gwarzin's setup that you're talking about. It's a good looking solution.

Brycej, YES! Do fasten them down, even then, NEVER open the door with the payout tray full!

I was thinking of building the stands 27" high. I tried a machine on our kitchen table, which is 30" high and it seemed a bit high for machines that have an LCD screen at the top. I was planning on using a medium height stool which is pretty close the the height you are when you are standing.

I called our carpenter and he said the same thing, 27 inches was average height from what he saw all over the net. I asked him about securing the machines down (keep in mind I have to be able to move them on and off the stand) and he is going to put a large bolt and washer mechanism on it so after the machine is put in place a washer and wing nut can be applied to keep it from tilting. I have a problem with machines fallig off benches already, don't need to make it any worse.

lol @ Reaper I know it's not funny, but I still get a chuckle thinking of the jokes on that thread about your fallen machine. I just thank God I haven't lost one. I'd be EXTREMELY p**sed.

To the topic; never underestimate the joys of an adjustable chair. From an ergonomics standpoint, the optimal viewing angle of different machines is, well, different. A fixed height stand with a fixed height chair may not be the best solution. Since it's much easier to move your person than your machine, I have fixed height stands with an adjustable height chair. I find that I move the chair whenever I change the machine.

If anybody is interested in the calculations involved in ergonomics and optimum viewing angles for your own machines let me know. I'll tell you more than you ever wanted to know.

Walmart sells a little TV stand for under $20. I purchased 2 for my 2 machines. They work well. The back of the machines hang off the back by only 1/2". This is good as I'm going to use 2 L brackets to secure the machines to the stands so they can't fall forward.

I normaly sit on a padded folding chair while playing so the height is good. You can tell its good with Sinbad, because that LCD if you were too high or low wouldnt look right because of the viewing angle.

Just a cheap solution. :-) You can see the tops here in this picture:

Hmmm The specs at wally world.com say that it's only designed for TVs 75 lbs or less. Considering a pachislo weighs considerably more than that, I'd be a little worried that the pressboard would snap one of these days.

Just me being my pessimistic self.

I use 2 of them on mine , you know they say only 75 lbs to keep liability down they probly are tested at twice that `amount and as they dont want to get sued they lowr the limit on them to a very safe level
These are my opinions and no body elses and you can't have them

    Wow. 10 ......... I'm worried about where I can fit my 3rd stand/pachislo. :-)

Its pretty cool to see others had the same idea I did for stands. You can't beat the $20 price.

Well, safety factor is usually 2.5, so they probably test them a little over 187 lbs. I guess I'm just not fond of Wal-Mart pressboard. Or I'm just overly negative.
