    Thumbs down Hurricane Rita

Hurricane Rita blew by Florida and looks like she is headed for Texas.

They should have called her Rose.

It looks like FEMA is finally getting their act together.

I'm sure we will all be praying for their safety!!!!

I boarded up today and will be heading out of here tomorrow. Newest track has it coming in closer to Galveston at 150+ MPH winds. Don't know if my pachis will make it but I can always replace them, lives are another matter. Alot of people wised up and got out today, Galveston is a ghost town and that's a good thing, they are going to get blasted.

Although I really enjoy watching the weather, I really hope this Hurricane dies down. This has been a terrible season for Hurricane Damage. Lets hope it doesnt create the Damage that a Catagory 4 or 5 can do. Mike : )

I'm 15 miles west of San Antonio on IH10 and we already have 40 or 50
semi's in the Wal-Mart parking lot ready to head south for relief.

I'm the Photo Dept Manager there and Wal-Mart has just sent
my store 3 rigs that we need to load tomorrow with necessities
to send to the coast...Boerne is right off IH10 West and It is the
busiest I seen it in years.

Y'all say a little extra prayer for Bobby. He lives on the beach just east of Galveston.

Zeron Stargate, don't you just love it when people bad-mouth Wal-Mart? They're the first to send help---always!

Y'all see the bumper to bumper traffic headed north on I-45? That is why you should leave Galveston early.

To all of you in that area, I wish you the best of luck & safety. We have friends in the Woodlands in Houston & hope they'll be safe.
(I wonder if the stormwall in Galveston will help prevent major damage. I'm anxious to see if it does, assuming Rita will go there.)

Photos, the seawall has helped in past storms there. At least partially. Galveston is a long, narrow island surrounded by the Gulf on one side, Galveston Bay on the other side.

Flood waters will inundate her, but most will come in through the back door, the bay.

Y'al say a little prayer that my friends house full of antique slots survives. The house should, but no telling about the slots and pin ball machines in the garage. BTW, they left yesterday for Austin to stay with his brother.

First, take care of your family's safety. Our relatives in Houston left for Austin today and that may not be far enough away from harm's path.

The destruction from Katrina was more massive than a nuclear blast and now there's Rita poised to strike. It's mother nature's version of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Get to safety and don't waste time.

    QUOTE]

Ya been with them 5 years now same store and it does get a little
disconserning but in my eyes look how big Wal-Mart is and that
makes them a Target (opps not the Target shopping centers)
almost blew that one, but anyway Wal-Mart keeps thier slate pretty
clean so that when something does happen the media blows it up.
I'm not saying Wal-Mart is perfect by no means it's a corporate
giant and with that comes issues. I'm just glad to have a decent job...

Today and Fri were my days off but volunteered to help load the
    relief trucks tonight and tomorrow.

Just a quick not to let everyone know that I'm safe and sound in Palestine TX. Maybe we can get back homeby monday. I am with some people from the Port Arthur area and sadly to say, their homes did not fair well. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who must now face the task of rebuilding.
