Popeye Trouble Report

Friends:
I took delivery of a POPEYE (from slot usa) pachinko machine last week. The machine arrived in typical slotusa condition (very dirty face, dust everywhere, filthy ball tracks, rustballs). After the 1.5 hours of cleaning time I put in, the shakedown cruise revealed that the bottom speaker did not operate. Trouble-shooting the machine (an additional 1.5 hours) revealed a block connector that was pushed down on a bent pin. I carefully straightened the pin out and re-seated the connector. Amazingly, the speaker now works. So does the green light in the pay-out channel.
Now for the volume control installation.

PS> The top red speaker grill was scratched, revealing the silver metal below. It looked terrible. I was able to fix it with a red SHARPIE marking pen. You could never tell it was repaired. Now if I could find some way to fix the plastic chrome on this and other machines. Lots of "rubs" I would love to fix.

Becareful of that plastic chrome. I learned the hard way that even 5 seconds with a dremel and a buffing wheel melts that stuff!

Did SlotUSA give you the usually 5-10 day waiting period before shipping?

Makes you wonder what they are doing when you get such a dirty machine.

Sharpies work great for minor touch up work.

My Popeye had the same problem with the red being 'rubbed' off but I didnt think about a sharpie.

Also, I just saw TA had a Popeye that sold for $214. What a deal! I guess Ill have to wait till Xmas to sell mine for cost!
