I agree with Doo. I have found the Admin here to be quite helpful. I don't think anyone here pretends to be an "expert"...obviously every day is a growing and learning experience. I see the Admin always express appreciation to people who share both technical and translation information as well as hands on playing reviews.

The only time I have seen a streak of stubborness is with regards to topics that touch on gambling....and that to me is completely understandable.

My favorite saying is "You did the best you could with what you knew, when you knew better...you did better"... I think that totally applies here.

    I couldn't agree more.
Not knowing the language is a handicap to understanding the theme and perhaps purpose of the machines. But it certainly doesn't seem to keep us from enjoying them when we play them.

All people in a community such as this one have their own gifts and talents. No one person is an expert on everything. However, when we all share what we know with others, it strengthens the community as a whole. And that leads to even MORE enjoyment of our hobby.

And so, like Arby... I would welcome your corrections pachi_sloter. I would ask also (just as Tulsa did), if you can, to provide everyone here with somewhat more "Americanized" names like you did above. While it's good to know that machine is literally translated "genji monogatari", it is much more helpful to someone that doesn't recognize those words to know that it MEANS "tale of the genji". Hmmm... come to think of it, knowing what a genji is would help, too.

BTW... nice to see you back. Haven't seen much from you in a while.

I would be happy to contribute to this project too, if a second hand is needed.

I can understand both sides of the fence here because on one side, having worked as a translator, the work is very demanding and there's always the strive to be accurate and really do justice to the original work. Language can be a very difficult animal to tame especially when you consider the minute differences that can exist especially due to things like cultural differences. Sometimes, I've sat down with a small one-page work and Japanese which resulted in three of four pages of English because there was just so much to explain why certain things were translated the way they were.

On the other side of the fence, I know that people like to have anything to work with. I've handed in some really embarassing work to clients before and they were completely happy with it because, well, it's better than nothing.

I was looking in the museum most of the evening and saw a bunch that could be better translated...maybe pachi_sloter and I can get together and work on them. I was also thinking it might be nice to have to romanized Japanese name as well as a passable translation like when possible. For example: CR Sea Story (CR Umi Monogatari).

How would I/we go about submitting revisions?

You can send them {What they are now = what they should be (romanized)} in a PM to me or Tulsa.
We will see that they get done

For example: Sea Story = CR Sea Story (CR Umi Monogatari).
