Default History of Pachisuro - IGT

    From the IGT website...

    LINK: The History of Pachisuro

    From that page, it says...

"There are about 1,800,000 Pachisuro machines installed nationwide, with an estimated 50 percent turnover every year. About 3,500,000 Pachinko machines are installed throughout Japan."

    50% TURNOVER???
900,000 pachisuro machines replaced in a year????

Alright... which one of you is hiding all those machines?

AND... why aren't we seeing more pachinko over here???
If the turnover is the same, that would be 1,750,000 pachinko machines!!!
ALMOST TWICE as many as the slots!!!

Whether or not the actual numbers are accurate, I would imagine that the fate of many machines is not resale but scrapping or recycling. I know for a fact that the LCD panels are often reused in other products - I have seen 7" LCD computer monitors (Mfd. by Lilliput) that would show the Jurassic Park logo when they were fed no signal because in the Jurassic Park pachinko machine they show that logo all the time while idle and it was sort of the euqivalent of 'burn in' although while operating normally you don't see any effect when they are fed a signal. While Lilliput will deny using refurb panels up and down, I know for a fact that they do it, and I wonder how many of the other parts of the machines get replaced into "new" hardware.

See here for a reference on the Lilliput issue or just type "Jurassic Park" or "Pachinko" into the search boards at mp3car.com. You will find a ton of references to screens that show ghosting of some pachinko/pachislo game - The coincidence here is that the mp3car community uses a heck of a lot of 7" VGA screens in a somewhat unique market. But this is just the screen. I'm sure with enough digging you could find where the other parts of such machines are going, but I suspect that they are scrapped and recycled. The electronics may find their way back into new machines too, even! You can sure wash PCB's clean of that smoky smell!
