The unit is cool looking and different. But, it doesn't work and who knows if the electronics at the top are any good? I'd be afraid of this item. No spare parts around for this one as you might easily find for a Nishijin, etc.

    Thanks Don...
You've had some experience with the vintage pachinkos.
Does this look familiar to you at all?

Almost 80 bucks to ship to me... ouch!
Pretty big risk for something that doesn't work.

    Some interesting mods there, though.
A few solenoids, and even a tilt device.

Yes, some electronix work is due on these, I'm blessed that my dad tinkered on these things when I was growing up in the 60s, 70s, thus my love for all things pachinko. Still have his soldering gun and eelctronix books....

the pin placement on these older machines is quite different than the modern placement,

I vaguely remember reading that the modern placement is based on some chap's idea, I forget his name, was something known as the "Nagami-san" placement....someone correct me....

anyway, was wondering if anyone know of some vintage history on these things, workbooks or guides to them, where to find (without a trip to Tokyo archives), I'm wondering how many old pachinko guidebooks are lounging around garage sales in the Okinawa area? It would be great to find some items like that.

    Just dreaming

Check out these pages that arby made available to us from the book called "Winning Pachinko The Game of Japanese Pinball" :

    http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2536

The book also has some history etc. You might be able to find it somewhere. The last time I saw one it was 75.00 for the used paperback book on I think Amazon.
