Now I know why I couldn't find Pachislo info!!

After a lot of digging around I finally figured out that the actual name for these machines are Pachislot's not Pachislo's......

Does anyone know why the T was removed in the USA?

Pachislot's makes way more sense too.....since it's obviously a slot machine.

Anyway I came across this neat english language site by Sammy (you may know about this already) that has a great flash movie that talks about Pachislot including how to play, the stats of sales etc. etc. that you may enjoy.

In particular I found button "4" to be useful in that it has actual video of a machine in play and a Pachislot parlor.

I think it is actually pachisorot or pachisoro (or something very similar); however, because Japanese has no distinct, separate 'r' sound, it is pronounced with an 'l' sound, which is as close as they can get to an acceptable, easy pronounciation.

A somewhat similar example in English would be, for instance, the inability of most English speakers to trill their 'r's except with great difficulty (remember the old commercial where the man says, "Rrrrrrrruffles have rrrrrrrridges"). Certain words WERE trilled in English, long, long ago, and one can see vestiges of that in many words like WRist, WRap, WRaith & WReath. So since we can't do it, we merely say 'rist', 'rap', 'raith' & 'reath'.
