Well, I was born and lived in St Bernard about 7 miles south of New Orleans for 38 years, my family and my wifes family lost every thing, every house has 10 to 15 feet off water in them for 30 miles south of the city. Thank God they all left for the storm and they are all OK.

What you have been seeing on TV is just a small piece of the damage, when people think about New Orleans they only think about the tourist area and Super Dome, well let me tell you I know what the city is made up off, when you get just blocks away from the tourist areas you have the worse of the worst people for miles. Thugs that have been stealing, killing, raping has always been there as that is there daily life. So what do you think will happen when they have no control in the city. It is sad that so many good people are mix up in this mess of bad people, the good people feared the bad every day. The poor and old could not get out so they stayed, the bad just stayed waiting for a chance to steal.

Well don't get me started because while every one seen all the problems on TV about getting every one out of the city, and the shooting at people trying to help, they had no help for the sorrounding areas and reporters could not get to. No one got to them, the people, my friends that would NOT shoot at the help sent to save them thousands DIED, DROWNED, DEAD, FLOATING in the water, you can't even show the pictures from the air because to many dead bodys floating.

So give me a break, many of the thugs that are *****ing are coming to your area to steal from you now, and the poor and old that really need help god bless and lets do all we can.

It would be nice if I could figure out how to start that video it would be nice.
    Laz,

When you click on the link, it should take you to Zippy Video's site. Scroll down to the black box and wait for the video to load and it should play automatically.

If it doesn't then your computer may have an outdated player or other issues.

His cat looks just like your avatar, only older (one of the original cats that came over on the Mayflower!)

Here's a govt site with aerial photos taken on Aug 30-31 of the gulf region.

    http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/katrina/

The pics are 2-3 megs each so dial up beware. I found my dad's house and you can see the tree down in the front yard, lots of detail. The pics are huge - 4000+ x 4000+ pixels.

A friend emailed this too me

LESSONS TV TAUGHT US ABOUT KATRINA

    1. New Orleans was devastated and no other city or town was affected by the hurricane.
    2. The hurricane only hit black families' property.
    3. Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.
    4. New Orleans has no white people.
    5. The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama resident.
    6. When you are hungry after a hurricane, steal a big screen TV.
    7. The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans. Now the city is welfare-, looter-, gang-, and prisoner-free... and they are all now in your city...and you are paying them.
    8. White folks don't make good news stories.
    9. Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you, instead ***** because the government hasn't given you a debit card yet
    10. Only black family members got separated in the hurricane rescue efforts.
    11. Ignore warnings to evacuate and the white folks will come get you and give you money for being stupid.
    12. Your governor wouldn't let the feds in for two days, but somehow, it's all George Bush's fault.
