Default Pachi Article I would like to write.

    Hello Everyone!

.....I didn't know where to post this...so if the moderator needs to move this thread...no problem

I'm so excited about my new obsession with my Metal Slug (and soon to arrive Tekken) Pachislo machines that I'm going to write an article about this hobby for a video game/arcade theme website that I contribute to called retroblast.com.

My latest article (about a portable Atari 2600) will be up soon on the main page under my "real" name of Mitch Gerson....but you can also see my last one in the "article" section if you're curious (it's also Atari 2600 related).

Any way, Kevin at Retroblast.com (the webmaster) is also a Pachislo fan and we're hoping for some leads on where we can find out more about the history/present state of Pachi gaming in Japan.

Does anyone have any specific info. on the cultural aspect of these slots in Japan (ex. obsessions; prizes awarded; the fact that these only run on tokens etc).

Any suggestions/tidbits or web links would be greatly appreciated!

    MameMaster!™

The concept of PachiTalk was to bring together anyone and everyone who has a passion for these amazing Japanese creations. Once you stepped through the doors at PachiTalk.com, you become part of the Pachination.
You are no longer Japanese, American, English, Italian, German, etc. (If I missed you I am sorry). You are now considered a Pachinational, put that on an application! We are all one big entity amongst ourselves and our Pachis. Segregation is not our philosophy and the seperating of diffent cultures will not happen, we are one, under the Pachi Flag.

We are the United Nations of Pachiland....

If you got any questions, just post it in the forum for the type machine you got. and we will do our best to help you.

Top of the page is a Gray bar our search fuction:

Here there....thanks for the cool welcome!

But, do you know specifically of any information on the history of these machines? I can find a ton of stuff on US Slots and the history of Vegas....but not much on these.

I'm also curious how these landed on American Shores....there had to be a "first vendor" to import these machines.

I'm not nec. looking for info. on my two specific machines for the article necessarily.

    Any directions/suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks again!!

As any good writer, you will need to dig thru the different categories.

There is a ton of info, But if I do your work looking and giving you the links, It would be my Article.

It is here you just need to do a little reading, it will give you a more round in depth approach, with a great understanding.

That is, if it is worth writing, for you.

Everyone works full time jobs and aren't able to be your research helper, sorry on this, you will need to spend the time yourself.

The amount of information here is huge.

Search function works good, try different keywords and you will find many links to information.

The museum also has many links to makers web sites.

    And there is always Google
幸運わんわん Luckydog or Yukiwanwan in Japanese

yeah....thanks for the ideas...and I do appreciate the suggestions.

I've been using the search function for a while on Pachitalk....but can't find what I'm looking for...

I'm trying phrases like-- history; history of pachislo; pachislo history; etc and haven't found much....but I'll keep trying.

Google....keeps resulting in tons of vendors selling the machines....and the only book I found isn't written yet (I saw the thread here on Pachitalk....

    Oh well...I'll keep digging!

Im not sure if anyone knows the exact history of pachinko there are a few stories that I've heard of ranging from ball bearings being left over from war to these being machines that use to payout candy to children. but if your search around im sure you'll find a place to start good luck

I would just go down the different catagories and look at the titles of the posting, that would do you well.

You might want to contact Grand View Products Inc (aka Pachinko_Pallace on Ebay). I was just rereading an article about them in the December 2002 issue of Gameroom Magazine (6 page article plus front cover of magazine). In the article they claim that they started bringing Pachislos into the USA in 1994. I am not sure that is the earliest known large importation of Pachislos or not. You might also want to check with Milt of Stealth (aka demos777 on Ebay) as he might have more on the history of Pachislos also(or maybe he will give some input here as he is a member).

I don't think Milt would feel bothered. He's one of the good guys in the dealer lineup of Pachisloland.
I would do a complete type out of this article about Grandview in the 2002 GameRoom Magazine and post it here but I think these days they would require reprint rights first? You might want to grab a back issue of it if you can as it has some more info in it that may also be here somewhere. One is that Pachinkos have to be taken out of commission in 6 months and it's the Pachislos that have a year before they have to be taken out of Japanese Parlors by Japanese law. I for some reason always thought 1 year for both but that info is probably on here also.

Arby was right in saying you need to dig deep in here!

....that's interesting regarding the Pachislos...I've rea they take them out of commission quickly (1-2 years).

I can't think of any reason mechanically why that would be the case.....hmmm .....I wonder if it's a way to keep that industry churning out these machines?

They take them out after 2 years due to legal reasons not mechanical reasons.

...oh yes, that I understood....I was just wondering what the justification for that would be ?......it can't be a concern that the mechanics would fail/cheat anyone.......so I wonder how that rule came to be?
