    Default Dongle - Any schematics?

Is there any schematics anywhere for the dongle device on Pachinkos as Im after the pin layout (and what I need ie null modem cable). Only link I could find had a dead link in it.

Thanks for any help as usual

This would be nice to get these to where they could be made in case someone loses theirs etc.
Thanks for bringing this up again !

While the pic link is dead in the post, Nethippy gave these parts and those pinouts to us a while back.

330 ohm resistor, 1/4 watt, connected between pins 25 and 4/5.

47uf 50v electrolytic capacitor connected between pins 4/5 and 17/18.
Negative end is connected to pins 17/18.

1N4004 silicon diode connected between pins 12 and 17/18. Banded end
    is connected to pin 12.
HOWEVER, when I pulled the dongle from my T-Birds for you... to take a pic... I see quite a difference.

Same parts, but actual pin numbers are quite different.

330 ohm resistor, 1/4 watt, connected between pins 1 and 17/18.

47uf 50v electrolytic capacitor connected between pins 8/9 and 17/18.
Negative end is connected to pins 8/9.

1N4004 silicon diode connected between pins 25 and 8/9. Banded end
    is connected to pin 25.

I think he might have had his pins counted a bit wrong.

This is done to a 25 pin MALE DB-25 connector.

    Here's some pics:

Looking into the end (outside), the upper left is pin 1. Count right to pin 13.
Second (bottom row) are pins 14 thru 25.

And, here's a shot of the back of the "dongle":

    Thanks for the info guys!

Maybe u could add this info to the dongle section in tips as the link in there is dead for the pics or make this a sticky?

With the help of a few friends and LogicProbes post above, my Dongle was saved. To elaborate, I got a Fever Queen, it didn't work, replaced dongle, it worked, checked schematic above found that the diode was reversed, I corrected it and it worked like a charm..

my husband tried to build this ...he built it exactly the way you have it here..only difference is that radio shack gave him a 35v capacitor instead of a 50v...would this make a difference..the ball launcher still won't work.

A 35v capacitor shouldn't make any difference. Make sure that the pin of the capacitor on the side with the stripe (ie the negative pin) is connected to pins 8/9 of the connector, as it is unlikely to work correctly if the capacitor is reversed.

If your husband (or yourself) have access to a voltmeter or multimeter, then with the dongle connected to the machine and everything powered up, check the voltage on the two pins of the capacitor (Black wire to the side of the capacitor with the stripe). You should read somewhere between 16v and 22v DC. The exact value is not critical, but if it's outside this range it could be a problem.

If you don't get any voltage across the capacitor then switch the meter to AC volts settings and check for approximately 24 volts on pins 1 and 25 of the connector (the striped end of the diode and the far end of the resistor). If the 24 volts is missing then there will be a blown fuse on the back of the machine somewhere near the dongle connector (T1A 'slow-blow' or 'antisurge' usually in the 5x20mm size).

If everything checks out with the dongle, then it looks like there might be a problem with the machine. Make sure that you are touching the metal ring, and not pressing the small 'stop button' on the side when rotating the handle. Then check all of the connections and wires between the handle and the payout control board on the back of the machine. Unplug and reconnect each connector in turn, to make sure that they are all correctly connected.

there is no metal ring around the ball launcher at all.

Not exactly a metal ring, but a chrome plated plastic one. Just behind the part that you turn on the shooter handle should be a 1/4" wide silver band the circumference of the knob. This has to be touched for the shooter to work.

When you turn the knob, does a little button pop out about where your thumb is (behind the silver ring, about 7-8 o'clock)? This button, when pushed in, stops the shooter, but allows you to maintain where you've been shooting. If it isn't coming out when the knob is turned, this would prevent the shooter from working also.

Payout settings cannot be changed on a Pachinko you can bend the nails for better payouts

or for a tighter game depending on what you want.

look for the nail bending threads and you can learn how to do it.

Do you mean pachislo machine? Big Powerful Fever is a pachinko. There aren't any payout settings on a pachinko, they come preset/hardwired from the factory. There was a variable odds system back in 95, but that was the only year they tried that. They only thing you can do is open the pins up a bit. Varying angles produce different results.

    So what was the fix?

    Cathy,
If you have a CR machine, you should purchase one of DaveRobs Dongles. You won't regret it

I must have looked at the connector backwards way back when I posted the info... the pin numbers are very tiny & difficult to read! I just recently had to build one for a machine & got it right, I just took apart another one & used it as a reference.
