He does do a fantastic job on these but the machine he uses for his customs is beyond boring.

After talking to a few folks who customize these mnachines, and the pro's and con's, most pachi's out there are not good for customizing due to the constraints. In order to really customize the machines that would not be considered "Boring", you'd have to not only change the header and belly glass, but the mai glass around the wheels as well.

And, thats just for starters. The "fun" interactives would require some reprogramming, otherwise, like previously mentioned elsewhere on the board, you'd get a themed unit with completely unmatched video, etc. I pan to customize about 12 units, I'm looking for them now, however, its a hobby, I won't be selling them. Its not as easy as most think.

Until such time as someone cracks the sound code for these machines and is able to install a theme related sound scheme, these "facelifts", are merely that. Your forced to choose a very generic machine to give this facelift to and in the end you have a pretty but still generic machine.

    Ah the customized machine...

You are right that you have to stick with a pretty basic machine to customize. I would love to do custom sounds and everything but nobody has really figured out a way to do yet. I don't have the skills to reverse engineer and reprogram the sound, let alone the video for LCD models.

Most of the people that I sell customized machines to are more interested in the look of the machine and not really the game play. They may have a "Monopoly" collection and it looks nice sitting there with all their other collectables.

Almost every person I sell one to has never had experience with a "pachislo" style machine so they are not use to all the Video and fancy stuff anyway. Basic pachislo machines run a lot like slots they have played in Casinos (Double Diamond anyone?) and they are pretty happy with them.

If you are looking for a machine with great game play (LCD, Talking Sound, etc.), a custom machine is not for you. Playing one of my customs is boring to me since I have a few other Pachislo and Pachinko machines with Video but they are getting kind of borning also now. I actually like making the custom machines more than playing them.
