two of mine have 2 black wires to the plug end and 2 red wires to the machine side.

the third machine has red and black to the plug end and 2 yellow to the machine.

Napster... I certainly meant no disrespect.

Richie... um... yeah.... really don't know what to say here. That sure doesn't sound like something that could be done over a forum or chat. I guess that old saying, "Refer servicing to qualified technicians" would apply now.

I dunno... does Milt have an electronics tech that could help you out?

Replacing the circuit board is only a simple fix if you can get one for free. Keep me posted as to what it costs.

Sure it is. The one thing that is working against you is the fact that you put a large amount of voltage into components that were not designed to tolerate it. You did the ultimate fry! The most common parts to go up in smoke are the rectifiers. (Diodes) These are normally connected to the transformer via a fuse and are used to convert the AC to DC. A capacitor usually follows to filter out AC ripple. They tend to look like small batteries and stand upright on the PCB This was probably the pop you heard. They sound like a cap gun when they go off. And in a 24v circuit they were probably rated not much more than 50V. When you look at the circuit board are there any Letters/Numbers written next to the charred parts? Like....D3 or C11 or R102 I'm more interested in the D,C,R as this denotes what kind of component it is. A pic would really help here.

This ain't good, fella. The machine is probably in sad shape. Even if you replace the circuit board other stuff is likely going to happen now after the jolt it took.

I hope theres no more damage than what i expect. hopefully its just this board ill have to replace it and then go from there.

I may be wrong, but I dont think you would need more than 4 amps for most machines..more than that would be plain overkill unless you added a bunch of bells and whistles that weren't original specs. The z2 and z3 should be zener diodes as RKnarr01 mentioned. They basicly regulate voltage to the attached component. If you popped your zeners you might have gotten a spike or inrush to some of the boards before your main fuse blew, depending on its rating.I hope this isn't the case, good luck with the troubleshooting.

Why yes, Zeners....Sorry just got back from a fast barbecue. Thanks Logicprobe for standing in. Sometimes it seems like I'm here but I'm not, I just minimize everything. Well, when everyone else threw the towel in, I tried to remain optimistic for you. I was hoping that we could stop it at rectifiers and filter cap. But when you popped the zeners...Well its going down hill real fast. I would imagine the entire low voltage power supply is shot. When the regulators opened up this allowed the full brunt of the voltage to continue throughout the rest of the circuits boards. Integrated circuits would never tolerate this high voltage. Static electricity easily pops them. If you try to fix this it may become a money pit. What did this machine cost you? Unless you can locate a board for cheap to try, I would just chalk it up to a lesson of life. We have all been there one time or another. Sorry, I tried.

And Logicprobe, I don't follow what you are trying to tell me when you quote me and type BUMP! Please explain.

he was bumping it to get me to answer your question i believe , luckily he did beecause i didnt see your post.

i paid 170 for this machine. im gonna try to located a board cheap and hope it works if not too bad.

My guess is that machine is going to have a ton of problems even with the new circuit board. But, sure won't hurt to try at this point.

Ok, now I understand what a bump is. Yea, I don't blame you for trying to get it to work. It could go both ways. But if a new low power supply board doesn't work then I would not go any further. Also the other boards being shot can cause the new board to short out again. (So don't tell youself that 1 more board will fix this) And Yea, $170.00 is a big loss...I feel for ya
Keep me posted on the outcome.
