My wife and I just recently won a Sankyo Dragon Monkey Machine on E-Bay. We love the machine, but the all Japanese graphics and sound is a bit frustrating, as we dont understand the story line or what we are winning. I am an electronics tech by trade, so I was wondering if there is any sort of conversion program to convert the graphics and sound to english. If that isnt possible, is there a way to maybe replace the ROM chip or whatever they have the video and sound stored on with a different one? Thanks for your help.

if you find a way to access the rom via computer id be very happy to learn it .as i understand it these units can be connected to computers in the parlor but without wiring diagrams its a brick wall to me....

Others have tried, none have succeeded. We believe it's stored in a format we don't understand. Big shock here. So a way to read it then manipulate it has eluded us so far.

Hmmmm...looks like I may have to tear apart the wiring harness and backwards engineer the thing. I will probably change the wire color code to American electrical standard as well. The boards look fairly straight forward...basic punch through solder type. Using the right tools, it shouldn't take too long to figure out what does what. I'll document the steps, and if I really frak things up, I guess I will get one of those english spiderman 2 machines Arby was referring to...thanks.

All the video and sounds are stored on ROM chips, many have tried to replace the sounds with something else over the last couple of years, but for the most part, it is all in a proprietary code that is used by the pachi manufacturers.
