Oh and I forgot to mention... there is only 1gig stoarge left so if you can, edit the vids and compress them so we can fit more in. Or, keep them between 0-50 megs each. Ill be sure to let you know if we are close to exceeding capacity.

A quick update on my progress with video.

All goodies are now installed n my computer.
Discovered my USB is the old 1.xx
Bought new 2.xx USB card to install inside computer today.
Neighbor can't come over to install it, he cut his foot kicking a screw --- that was not loose but still screwed in.

Nephew Kyle and I both have to work Friday and Saturday video taping a beauty pagent.
I did a quick test with a video we took last Sunday.
    It all worked!
    Almost.
SOMETHING the kid (not nephew) put on my compuuter adds a "dancing elecard" and a note that say 'my evaluationperiod has expired to please contact mooonlight.co.il ...'
(Anyone have any ideas what this might be?)
In the meantime I discover the software that came with the ADS video capture device does not support .MOV files my little digiral still camera uses, which means I can't edit the videos I have already taken.
(Anyone have any suggestions on software for editiing Quick Time (MOV) files?)

Yesterday, a day off, was spent setting up lights, viideo equipment and sound system for the pagent. (We filled up a 14 foot U-Haul truck with all that equipment! Plus we found out tonight that we are shy 2 camermen for Friday, and one for Saturday.)
Fortunately we still have another that WILL be there both nights!

In the meantime I have to try to figure out what that %#$%^&(^$##$!!!%^& moonlight.co.il is all about and get rid of it --- when I have time!

I have the same MOV problem with my Kodak digital still camera, Tony.
Fortunately (???) the video it shoots is crap.

What kind of camera(s) are you using for your videos? Are they miniDV with firewire? Or Digital8? Or Hi-8?? Or VHS????
Man, when I got into it for the school, I was frustrated for weeks, if not months before I found the right stuff to do a pro shoot. God bless ya!!!

We ended up with a Pinnacle DV500, Canon XL1, and Medea Video RAID SCSI drive before it was all over. But we put out some NICE stuff.

Let me know, and maybe I can point you in the right direction.
But, if the truck is loaded, and the shoot is this weekend... you must have a pretty good idea of what you're doing.

I have a DV cam and I'm getting my first pachinko this weekend (drm). Since not much is known yet, I'll make some videos of it for everyone

Tony, btw, that dancing elecard thing is your mpeg2 decoder from elecard.

If you uninstall it and use another mpeg2 encoder/decoder it will go away.

Just look for moonlight elecard or elecard mpeg in your add/remove programs in windows.

For anyone that has the time, patience, AND the money...
Video editing can be a lot of fun, and quite rewarding.

I can highly recommend these guys for great stuff and support.
Sometimes you can beat their prices on things, but when you figure in the tech support that you WILL need... they are a bargain!
Support is a MAJOR part of a video editing purchase.

Even if it's just for the reading of the "Handbooks" and "Cookbooks" and other research and reviews on their site, it's worth checking them out.

They handle amateur, pro-sumer, and pro stuff.

    http://www.videoguys.com/

Just remember, the more you spend there, the less you'll have for pachis.
And sometimes the learning curve is pretty steep.

BTW, I started to buy a DV camera a couple months ago. Spent the money on pachis instead.

Dark, what format do the newer digital home video cameras use?

    Anybody?

That's what I have for a digital still camera, LP. A Kodak EasyShare DX4530. I didn't even know it took video until after I got it home. You're right, the video isn't the best by a long shot, but it's no worse than video's I've seen on eBay.

I also have an old JVC compact VHS camera that does a pretty fair job for home use. Nephew Kyle has 4 Panasonic Pro Reporter cameras that are just too much camera for me to use. They're old, but very good.

Since the little Kodak is so darn easy to use, I'll probably use it for quick, short videos. I'll use the JVC for better quality when I can.

As Sgt. Schultz used to say, "I know nothink, nothink!" I'm an old B&W still photographer, still have a couple of Contax RTS cameras with many lenses, that I last used a year or so ago, but they're still cameras. This amature video is all new to me!

Times are a changin'. I had a darkroom just a couple of years ago but now it's all digital. No more Contax cameras, Kodak won't be making B+W paper after this year, and I just read that Dixons (big camera chain in the UK) won't be selling 35mm any more.

I'm no video expert but I think mini DV is still the standard, but there are several dvd camcorders out now.

I have uploaded 2 Quicktime videos (MOV) of the Thunderzone in action as requested by Arby aand Dazzyman.

These are really just a test to see if I could actually upload files successfully.

I see after the fact that I made an error and put them in the root Pachinko DIr rather than in a sub-directory. I should have made a sub-dir named Thunderzone and put them there. I will try to correct that but if I can't, I'll see if Alex will.

I apologize in advance for the quality, I just used the Kodak digital and hand held them. Like I said, this is really just a test and I (or Alex) may delete them when I get better shots.

    You can see them here:

    http://www.pachitalk.gamershive.com/...Pachinko_Vids/

The file names are 100_0485.mov and 100_0489.mov

In the meantime I'll attempt to add the proper sub-dir and move them there.

    Thanks Tony!

You will see you can make directories and erase etc.

Oh I see you did that already !

Hey I can play the first one just fine(BTW : NICE VIDEO !!) but for some reason the second one shows as a broken quicktime icon for some reason. Maybe that's because you are in the process of moving it as I am trying to see it !!

    I'll check it later.

    It's easy to do this = isn't it ??

Thanks Lew! I just did that very thing!

They are now in the Thunderzone directory.

Did you check to see if either worked? Or better, will you check them out and let me know if they work, please?

Well, so far I'm batting .500!
I don't know, but I suppose I could re-upload the second one. I'm guessing it would be better to delete it, then upload again.

Gonna try that now. (Brief time passes....)

Okay, give it a shot now, please Lew.

Alex could you PM me regarding this as I am not seeing 1 gig. I left you a PM and email about this a few days ago. Please contact me somehow asap. Thanks. Lew

Alex here is my direct email address : pachinko_lew@yahoo.com

Ok everyone else you see the above right? I am going to move my videos I did to either Putfile.com or rapidshare.de so that will free up more space as my files were quite large in the "pachislos in the movies" folder.

Here is where we were on his ftp site before I erased my files:

    306940 Kbytes used (99%) - authorized: 307200 Kb

I am not seeing the 1gig that was authorized as he said. If I am reading this correctly we had 260k of space left ?

Anyway for now I have erased my videos I put on there and I will be reposting them like I said on either PutFile.com or rapidshare.de or both. I will repost the urls here after I have them done
I also will continue upload anyones videos for them on Alex's site first if there is room. If there is not space available then I will use the streaming site of PutFile.com for immediate viewing and for you that prefer to download videos to your hardrive: I will put them also on rapidshare.de

Ok now as of this moment in time : after erasing my uploaded videos the reading is :

    165423 Kbytes used (53%) - authorized: 307200 Kb

So this means we have (as of this moment 140+ megs of space ? )

Also when I can, I am backing up all the videos that are being uploaded to Alex's site = just in case

Good idea to back them up.
I was going to upload my Harley vid (10 Meg? even in DIVX), but if there's a question as to space, I might wait.
Either that, or use the putfile site.
Maybe I'll try to compress it even more.
