    Question Inadequate transformer???

I'm still trying to figure out why my gladiator still makes a 'whirr...(pause)...whirr...(pause)... whirr...(pause)' sound. I've disassembled a lot of the mechanical parts, taken out (& tried to lube) both motors in the payout section & reassembled the whole thing. It still does 'whirr...(pause)', but what I've suddenly noticed is that the red lights on the front dim when the 'whirr' begins & they brighten during the pauses. (It had always done this, I just didn't take note till now).

    WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?

Could it be one of the little motors?
If so, who could I contact to get a replacement (Milt? Someone else?)?

Could it be that the transformer is bad, or inadequate?

It's making me nuts! I need one of the technical wizards on the Board to help me out, please!

Try isolating the source of the sound. That will help in figuring out what to do.

Let us know what you find out.

photos: I don't know if you saw in some other thread I posted about that noise. My gladiator does the exact same thing when one of the ball tracks is out of balls. It will whir, then stop for a few seconds, whir again to see if any balls showed up, stop, whir again..... You see the pattern. When no music is playing it's quite a shocking sound.

The first time it did this I looked and all the balls were fine. But a little piece of styrofoam peanut was in there not letting the balls actually go through the motor. So it just kept up the whir, stop pattern until I blew the peanut out.

    I hope that helps some.

    Unhappy Re: Inadequate transformer???

I'm frustrated. It still does the 'whirr...(pause)' sound, with or without the balls in the payout hopper.
Is there a reset switch somewhere?
Looks like I'll have to tear it apart again to try to isolate what may be causing it. That'll need to wait till the following weekend, as I'm leaving for Kentucky (Fort Knox) for my son's boot camp graduation.

[At this point, I feel like cmk does with HIS gladiator & wouldn't minding selling it to someone & perhaps trading up to something else]

lol Laz bought mine. Modern pachinko just didn't do it for me.

I wish you weren't so far away, photos, I'd be more than happy to tear it down and figure it out for you for free. I love fixing things. But shipping it here then shipping it back.... You could just buy another one.

Now, if you could be without it for a while and could get one of these truck driver folks to do the transport....
