    Default Neo Planett LCD screen

I have a Planett and the bottom of the LCD screen is not attached to anything. Is it supposed to be this way? It is firmly attached at the top.

right under the screen there is a green board, there is a hole in the middle, the screw in that hole holds the bottom of the screen on.

    it shouldn't be loose

Nope! No place for a screw in the bottom. There is a screw there, but it is not for attaching the LCD to the door. Looks like it just sits in two brackets at the top. The bottom can be moved in and out.

Then you must be missing the screw, there a hole in a green circuit board that the screw goesw into the board the lcd screen is then attached with that screw.

The screw is there and tight. Must be a problem in behind.

the tab on the bottom of the screen may have broken off,

if you aren't nervous about taking it apart it's possible you may be able to superglue the tab back on. or do some type of repair.

but, I don't think you would hurt anything leaving it just the way it is.

The post that the screw goes into is broken off. Thanks for all the help. And yes - taking these things apart makes me nervous, but nothing ventured - nothing gained.

since you say that the LCD does move some I would definitely glue the tab back on or secure the LCD in some other manner. because the LCD is on the door, every time you open and close the door you risk damaging the LCD.

    Just my 2 cents worth,

I agree, if the LCD is unsecured and moves, you should find a way to fix it. But if it is secure the way it is, I would leave it alone. I looked at mine when I arrived home. The LCD sits inside a black hinged case with one screw securing it in the bottom middle. It looks like it is designed to flip up for maintenance.

I have both the Neo Planett and the Neo Magic Pulsar. Both of these have the broken post problem. I had no idea this was a problem since both machines were the same. Once I get my stands finished I will fix both of them. There are quite a few connectors to remove and reinstall, but I will do one machine at a time, using the other for reference. I will probably try using epoxy to fix the post.

I'm not so sure epoxy is the best way to go. Try a slightly larger screw first.

Epoxy doesn't work with every kind of plastic. I haven't actually looked to see if there is enough of the post left to hold a longer screw, but that would be an easy solution if there was.

I had the vendor replace the machine. It also came with a few other problems and the screen was just the "straw".

FYI...Very common problem with many of those machines. It does not cause problems unless someone takes everything apart to try and "fix" it...

Milt, do I take that as your recommendation to leave well enough alone?
