    Default Seven versus Dollars - 7 vs $ - Review

    Starting with the Attract Mode: This machine has none, other than the blinking "Insert" above the coin acceptor. I will say it does have an attractive belly glass, black background, gold coins, with a large '7 vs $' with "seven" and "dollars" superimposed. Type A is also there along with the usual stamps. The serial number on mine is 3666.

    The backlit top glass lists all winning combinations in English with very little Japanese. To the left and right of the reels are the usual five lights indicating pay lines. The top and bottom lights are red, those in between green. Outside left are "7," "$," "Replay," "Wait," and "Bet." Outside right from bottom to top, is "Bonus Stage," a rudimentry bonus count, lights in 50 count increments to 500 payout.
    Above the reels centered is a two digit LED with "Bonus Indicator," which I think indicates a probability number for hitting a Big Bonus, with indicator lights 1 thruogh 6, and 7 through 12 on either side, and three lights above the LED showing the 3 bonus rounds.

    A clever feature is the LEDs between the reels that show possible five wins across, diagonally, and across AND diagonally for the sixth and seventh win lines. It does not have back lit reels, and the reels are standard width, not over-size as are newer machines.

    While the door key will turn left, it does not reset the machine, that must be done internally with the reset button.

    Sound is good, just nothing really special. A definite improvement over older machines that remind me of early PC games. There is a three position slide switch volume control that, to my amazement, actually worked! On the low setting it is very quite even in a Big Bonus round.

    Reel symbols are colorful with bright gold dollar signs, red sevens, yellow bells, green watermelons, cherries, and of course blue replay symbols.

    Payouts are:
    Bells = 15
    Watermelons = 5
    Cherries = 2

    Big and Regular Bonus are dollar signs and of course, sevens.

    I'm enjoying "7 vs $" having hit a BB with a total payout of between 350 and 400.

    My biggest complaint is the token acceptor. It is short and difficult to speed load more than eight to ten tokens at a time. Outside of this, it is a good, solid machine.

    I rate "7 vs $"

    Attract - 6.5 of 10
    Sound - 7 of 10
    Playability - 8 of 10
    Overall Looks - 8 of 10
    Total - 7.5 to 8 of 10

    This is my early opinion/review of this machine. I welcome your comments and especially those of other "7 vs $" owners. Corrections will certainly be appreciated!

    Edit: I do not know the manufacture year of 7 vs $, but I suspect in the 1999 to 2001 range.

    I think turning the door key to the left does do a minor reset on my Catch Me 500 DX.

    I tried to explain some of the game play once in this thread:
