Default Sansei machine transformer & wiring

    Hello,

I’m looking for some help with a pachinko machine I purchased recently.

It’s a Sansei, Beleza, Baron model. I was told it was in working order (hmm, always sceptical about that bit!) and it comes with a transformer.

    The machine is AC-24V / 3A / 100VA

The transformer is a Europa Components brand, step down, dual input 230/400V AC, output 24V AC, 50VA - 300VA.

The machine looks like it has already been wired to use the transformer. The problem is I just don’t understand the wiring and connections!

What I assume is the machines power cable (the black and white wires with the original plug removed?) terminates in spade connectors. The only place they could connect on the transformer is on the thicker white wire, but I’m pretty sure that’s the input from the mains, so that can’t be right!

So, am I lacking connectors, does it need re-wiring differently, I’m I missing something obvious? I’ve gone round in circles searching for any information on the net but I’m not getting anywhere.

I’d be very grateful for any advice offered…

Its a little over powered. That transformer could probably run 4 machines of that age. But shouldn't be a problem.

The pair of grey cables (one with an inline fuse. goes to the 24v side. Ideally the fuse wire should go to the 24v The plain should go to 0v

On the other side. blue and red should go straight to your mains supply. I'm assuming this was in a cabinet or something. I would cut off the shade connectors from thick white cable with the red and blue and wire that to a standard Uk 3 pin plug. To be extra safe. Replace the fuse in the plug with either a 3A or 5 A fuse rather than 13A.

Although, If like me, If you have an old lead with a moulded plug on it, say to an old stearo or printer lead. Cut the printer end off and wire that to the transfomer instead.

From the pictures I'm more interested in the other pair of wires on the 24v side of the transfomer. Where are they going to?

Looks like a nice clean machine.

    Any problems, Just ask

Mains voltage can be deadly. So always unplug before doing any works etc.

Thank you Ian, that’s really helpful!

I had thought that about the mains cable, but wasn’t 100% sure! I’ve plenty of old printer cables around so will use that.

The grey wires with the inline fuse are indeed wired as you say they should be (although the one wire is disconnected from the coupler at the moment).

The red wires from the transformer vs the wires coming from the machine and how to connect are the puzzle.

The red wires from the transformer end in male spade connectors.
The wires from the machine also end in male spade connectors! They also have an inline fuse on them. The wire with the red plastic tape marker has the fuse, and it also connects to the black wire from the machine, which I’ve read, in Japan is the live?

I’m wondering if there is some kind of connecter missing. I’ve done a search on the internet, but can’t find anything like it.

So, could I either re-use that thicker white cable with the female connectors and attach it to 24v side of the transformer and connect them that way?

Or replace one of the sets of male connectors with female ones?

Also is it odd / needed that there are two inline fuses between the machine and transformer?

    Thanks, Amanda x

And thanks for the welcomes everybody!

Sure. I can only go from what I see and past experience

I would run this cable to the 24V side. Cut off the spade connectors. Then attach to the transfomer. Using the inline fuse.
Then lose (store safely) the remaining cables. If in doubt start from scratch. especially as you don't know the history.

probably has a data counter connector in the top right.

here's a video of a working one. Seems the right hand disk should spin as well.

Thank you - will do (that's sound much simpler than my ideas!)
That's great to see one going, I couldn't find any when I looked.
Thanks again for your time, and fingers crossed.....
