Default One last issue with the Daido Shimuken G

I have one last issue with the Shimuken G by Daido that I just got working. When I turn it on the music starts playing, the yellow lights start flashing and in Japanese according to Google translate it says “Let’s listen to the clerk”. It also shows E-8 on the center display. If I preform a reset on it, it goes away and operates normally. If I turn it off and wait a second to turn it back on it does the same thing. Any ideas what I should look at?

    E8 error code is :
    Hopper Disconnected .
Power off machine, remove hopper, reconnect hopper and check all connections from the power supply and to the hopper. Reconnect hopper, power back up, reset machine.
Let us know if this helped

Hopper has been removed cleaned up and reinstalled. I’ve cleaned the electrical connectors and checked each wire. The error only occurs when it’s first turned on. Once it’s reset it runs fine. I found a website that showed that the code E-8 for Daido/Sankyo machines was something about RAM memory.

I would guess that since it's almost 25 years old that whatever battery or capacitor that used to remember stuff when the machine was turned off is probably dead now, so it errors when it's powered on, but once it's reset and has constant power its fine!! Just a guess..

That’s kind of what I was leaning towards. I’ll never find it if it’s a capacitor but if it’s a battery where could it be located? I looked around and don’t see anything like a battery. I figured it would be a large disk battery likeain old computer CMOS battery.

E-8 error code on a Daito machine is a Ram Error. Basically meaning it has lost it's memory.

The machine was designed to be ON for 24/7, in the Parlor. From my understanding, there is a capacitor that holds the power so the machine holds it's memory. I would have no idea how you would determine where it is.

Believe me, you are not the first to encounter this issue. I've had machines with the same issue and I just knew every time I turned it on I would have to reset it.

I'm guessing they never thought about it ever being fixed when they made it since it would be in the landfill long before it gave out!!

Here is someone else trying to fix the same type of thing I think..
