    Default Vintage "Oriential" needs help

I recently acquired an 1992 Universal Co. Ltd machine. Everything works
GREAT except the stop buttons. All lights and sounds are perfect. The wheels
spin for approx 45 sec and then stop on their own. My question is does
anyone have a clue how to fix this problem. I have checked the contacts on
the buttons and they look good. Checked all the connections and they are
good. It recently hit the Jackpot and went wild........... took me 2 days to figure
out how to reset it, but I did........ next the stop buttons and I will be a happy
    guy.

    Thanks for any advice

First, make sure you unplug your machine!!!

you could try spraying electric contact cleaner all around the buttons, tap on the buttons a little after doing this, and take off your connectors and spray some on them before plugging them back in,

track where the wires go to main board and unplug and replug them.

The button is nothing more than a momentary relay. You can take and jump across the two wires that are connected to the button while the reels are spinning to make sure from the wires back to the controller it is functioning properly. Generally just laying a screwdriver blade across the two teminals at the same time will work nicely.

RKnarr01 turned me on to this site. Thanks to all for the advice. The buttons (3) are connected to a panel that has NO wires. Behind the buttons is a circut board that's connected to the rest of the machine. When the button is pressed a small plastic piece on the back of the button is pushed between (2) small plastic electronic pieces connected to the board. Not being an electronics person it looks odd to me that there seems to be no physical connection between the two pieces. It looks like plastic sliding into plastic that's connected to wires. Maybe I am missing some parts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

That's actually how some of my machines are. If you'll notice a lot of spin levers are the same way. It is breaking an optical stream and that's what causes the 'button press.'

These are not really cleanable, but they also very rarely go bad. I'd follow the wire checking route. Unplug, replug, etc. Then let us know. I just redid a vintage machine, though it had different stop buttons.

A couple of reasons reels won't stop:

The reels aren't up to speed. They need to be spinning at a certain rpm in order to be able to stop them. Not much you can do if this is the problem.

There is another button stuck (for example the start lever).

The reel stop board is unplugged or bad.

It's unlikely to be the reel stop buttons themselves, since NONE of them work...
