Default Reel Position - Bellco Automatic.

I picked up a Bellco Automatic a few weeks ago. No keys etc. but the machine looked very clean so I took a chance. After powering on, the middle reel was "chugging" while trying to start. Sometimes it would spin and other times it wouldn't. I also have a Bellco Bingo machine and was able to switch the complete reel cage assembly. The problem was still there. After checking every connection carefully it turned out to be a bent pin on the reel stop board connector. Very hard to see at first but I've learned to be very thorough on the connection checks. So far, so good.

I started playing the Automatic yesterday and everything seemed to be working fine but I realized that the machine was paying out on odd combinations. After fiddling about for a while I decided to compare my reel graphics to the Automatic reel graphics on the Pachislo database and it looks to me that the #2 and #3 reels are in the reversed positions.

I'm wondering if it's possible the previous owner switched the#2 and #3 reels while trying to diagnose the "chugging" issue, never found the problem and didn't switched the reels back to their correct position.

I'm basing this on the comparison of the #2 and #3 reel graphics of my Automatic to the Pachislo Database Automatic. Before I start pulling it down; can anyone tell me if it'd even be possible to switch those reels? See the attached image.

    Thanks.

Not sure about all machines (I have only done this with a Rodeo machine), but the reels tend to be plug and play. You can pull a pin (or unscrew a screw) and disconnect a connector and pull the assembly for a single reel out. The three assemblies are identical so if you want to swap them it's pretty trivial to do.

It's been posted may times that someone has accidentally switched reels when trying to fix something!!

First figuring it out when the payouts all of a sudden don't line up!!

Thanks, I switched them no problem. It's strange that you mention that it's been posted many times. I always spend quite a bit of time searching before I post. In fact, on this topic I searched at least six times, using a variety of search terms and never once came across any referenence to this problem. For me, the search engine always delivers 4 pages, no more and no less so I'm obviously doing someting wrong. Thanks again. Collin

It's not just you, the search on here can be a bit hit and miss!!

The advance search can help, but it's a little odd too!!

The main problem I think is that for 19 years almost everyone uses slightly different words to describe some problem they think they have when the real problem is something else entirely which is called something slightly different by each person answering making it incredibly hard to try to guess the right words that will bring up what you are actually looking for!!

That's great. I've never used that search method before. It shows many more results than using search terms in the site search engine.
    Thanks. Really appreciate that.

Collin P, was the bent pin on the board or in the wiring connector ? I have a machine that the left reel shudders sometimes be for it spins.

bjab, it was on the reel stop board. I had to look twice at it. First glance everything looked okay, second glance I found it bent just enough to prevent seating in the connector correctly. Like it was off at an angle. Gently tweaked it with a pair of small needle nose pliers and carefully guided the connector on. Hope that helps. Good luck
