I've had fairly good success using chrome colored Krylon Premium Metallic spray paint. I probably should have tried SibSr's method of rust removal, I spent way too long with a wire wheel and sandpaper. Couple of coats of primer did help smooth over some of the roughness.

I bought a few cans of silver spray paint this week, so after I get done with errands and such I'm going to start the process.
