Default Heya everyone Snowy winter project inbound.

Michigan here by way of Florida and Georgia. Wanted to check in and thank everyone for the great info so far.

I picked up a vintage Nishijin pachinko machine today for what I consider to be a good deal. They said it hasn't worked in ages and has been in a barn (covered) for thirty years.

    Challenge accepted.

I did a partial restoration on a Cleopatra pachislo machine and loved it so I'm on to pachinko. A friend's dad had a cool machine at his house and I immediately fell in love with it growing up. The lights, the p-cha of the launch, everything.

I'll make a project thread somewhere you can follow my adventure. I'm sure some of you have restored this exact model, so feel free to jump in with advice, as I'm here to learn.

Thanks again, I'll include a few pics.

You know, I think I already figured out why it was abandoned.

The first feed ramp coming off the supply tray was blocked. Two thumbtacks (??!?) had fallen in and backed up both lanes, right at the bend. You couldn't see them unless you really got close to it.

    Wow, this is cool.

What's the best way to figure out the year of manufacture? I trust the recommendations here, but I want to make sure I document and catalog absolutely everything about this (and future machines).

The certification tag on the front of the machine, (normally in the lower right of the playfield), has stamps and one will normally have the Showa year.

The yellow stamp on your machine has the Showa year of 47. Conversation is easy, add 1925 to 47 and you have 1972. That is the year the machine was to be removed from the Parlor, so the machine was probably manufactured in 1971.
