I have the machine completely disassembled now. Gonna take my time (but not too much time) cleaning everything before starting reassembly. I’m also looking at options for LED lights.

I don’t have a soldering iron, but I do have a bunch of spade connectors left over from a previous arcade project. Anyone know of a good LED socket that I could use them on? These are the only ones I’ve found so far, they’re meant to go inside arcade buttons. https://www.diyretroarcade.com/produ...me-leb-buttons

You don’t need to buy any special socket unless your factory existing ones aren’t working. It’s as simple as changing the bulbs to convert to LED

I just added a couple LED bulbs I got off ebay to the project I’m working on; one red for out of balls light and one white for the center feature.

Ah, I should back up… my wires are in really rough shape, and I broke one of the solder points during disassembly, so I decided I would just replace the whole electrical setup.

Maybe I’ll finally learn to solder. LOL

Yeah; they are really easy to break! I had to do some soldering since I also broke a couple soldered areas removing the switches/wiring, not to mention previous owner screwed up the wiring and had it connected wrong.
It’s not that hard to solder; I learned how to solder at summer camp when I was 12 years old… just don’t burn yourself and you’ll be fine!

I'm still wanting to replace most if not all of the electrical components. The leaf switch was one of the solder points that I broke, and if you look carefully, the other one is hanging on by the tiniest of points. I'm really tempted to just cut the leaf switch housing away from the rest of the seesaw panel, and have something 3D printed to replace it. Probably asking for more trouble than it's worth, though.

I'll make you a complete replacement switch. I've made them for nishijins already, and I have a couple Daiichi machines that I can use as a sample for duplication.

$5 to make and $5 to ship

Any chance you have a Daiichi with this same bumper cover? This is the only broken plastic part I’ve found on the machine.

All I want is something printed to go on top of the broken part.

Yes, my machines has the same part. I'll see what I can come with. Probably something that would be held into place by the rebound bumper nail. Challenge accepted!

I have 2 Daiichi's with this piece on them. One is perfect, and the other was broken like yours. So, I made two copies of this part.

The payoff switch I am still working on. The square cover seems to be glued on, and I'm still trying to see if I can get it apart without damage.

Glued on, really? Wow, I assumed it was all one piece.

I just took another look at my leaf switch, and I can't tell where it's glued on.

SibSr, if you're able to figure out how to get it apart, let me know. Otherwise I'll just cut the old one away.

I have a slightly older Daiichi that uses the same switch. The cover was held on with a screw and came off easily. The rest of the switch is made up of the moulded pieces on the backplate.

I can make the cover easily and the brass contact strips and wire connections. But I can't make the lugs / walls/ supports ...whatever you want to call them on the backplate.

Let me see what it takes to get the glued version apart with the least amount of damage to those parts now that I have one to look at.

Ok, that makes way more sense seeing it like that.

In that case, if you make a new cover, I will try to cut the old cover away, and then I'll use a screw to fasten the new one down.

I used a couple prybars to defeat the glue and lift the cover off the backplate. But it came off in 3 pieces, so it's off to the drawing board for a new cover for us.

Looks the same as the green switch in the previous pictures. Does the green cover fit over the orange switch?

Oh no… I may have broken this tulip beyond repair. Any recommendations for where I might source a replacement? eBay?

Ok, I might have been freaking out a little too much last night when I posted this. I thought I had completely ruined the tulip.

I was putting a new coat of paint on all of the playfield features, and I also had some hot stamping foil that I used to get a nice foil edging on them.

Because I had disassembled this tulip, I was only working with the yellow part. After applying the foil, I realized too late that the heat had caused the plastic to warp. I tried to reassemble it and found that the pieces didn't fit together anymore.

This morning, with a clearer head, I took another look at it, and it might be salvageable. I can cut away some of the plastic at the bottom, and I think the pieces would fit together again. I'm able to get it back in the metal bracket, so it has enough of its shape to still function. You can definitely tell that it's warped when looking up close, but hopefully not too terrible.

It is the same, and yes the green cover fits the same as the original.
daiichigreencover.jpgEven better, my orange filament is a perfect match for the orange plastic.

I'm trying to figure out where I put my roll of copper sheeting so I can make the contacts, get them soldered and get the switch parts to you.
