    Default $10 Computer Pachinko

I bought this machine a couple of weeks ago. It is non-working, but for the price I figured the parts could come in handy.
That was my initial thought, but now I'm thinking with some modifications it could be made into a useable machine and play almost like a computer pachinko.

With some re-routing of the winning balls and some leaf switches. A counter to keep score. A button to start the game by dumping balls to the tray, opening tulips and resetting the counter, I'm thinking can be done with leaf switches.

I think this is my next project and I'll see what I can come up with in the morning.

    I think I have a useable machine.

You will press the Replay button to start the game. The machine will give you a predetermined amount of balls and 3 tulips open.
Each winning ball is scored as 10 points and you play for high score, just as you would playing a pinball machine.

I added some channels for the winning ball, with a sensor to count/score the ball and a switch to reset the jackpot. (The new channels fit behind the jackpot hopper, that has been removed in the picture.)
When a winning ball enters the see-saw, the see-saw tilts, which contacts a switch and activates the solenoid for the jackpot, thus dumping the balls.
The winning ball travels through the newly added channels, passing by a sensor that scores the ball as 10 points. The ball continues on to a switch that activates the solenoid to reset the jackpot. After the ball leaves the switch it falls into the ramp for the jackpot balls and returns to the shooter tray.

To start a game 3 things needed to happen. The jackpot need to dump the balls, 3 tulips need to open and the score needed to be reset.
I needed 3 separate switches to do this, but I wanted just one button to push.
I decided to use the existing Replay button. I cut some strips of metal and soldered a wire to it, glued the strips back of the button and to the button housing. Making 2 contact switches.

Now when the Replay button is pushed, the switch itself activates the solenoid to dump the jackpot. One of the newly added contact switches activates the solenoid to open the tulips and the other contact switch resets the counter.

I started taking the machine apart. The cabinet is going to be replaced and a new door frame.

The door frame was stapled to the cabinet and there wasn't any way to remove it, other than breaking it apart. I removed everything from the playfield, (front and back), then removed from the door frame, while still attached to the cabinet. Wasn't easy, but did manage to get it out.

I decided to change the center feature from the crab center feature to a feature I took out of a model B machine. I call it the Busy Bees, it has a clock face, that the hands pivot to the left or right to pay pockets. (picture below).
But for it to work I had to drill a couple of new pay pocket holes and relocate some nail placements around it and fill in some of the existing openings.

Now to come up with some type of a theme to go with the Bees center feature.

I've been working on the door frame and making a new cabinet. The original was unusable.

The original, the door was removed from the frame and only the door was use. It was stapled into the cabinet. To access the inside of the machine, you had to remove the back.

I used the door and the frame, so you can open it from the front. The cabinet design is similar to the Airport computer pachinko, I have.

I added a playfield light to the top. Made a new sticker for the door. The shooter tray is covered with a plastic cover and was riveted on. I drilled out the rivets to remove the cover, so everything could be cleaned. Instead of using rivets to reattach it, I used screw posts, which resemble rivets. Now it can be removed, if need be, without drilling.

The game is setup to give you 8 balls, open the 3 tulips and reset the score, when you press the Credit Button.

Each ball that hits a pay pocket/tulip scores 10 points and pays out 8 balls + your winning ball is returned to the shooter tray.

One game is however long you can play, without running out of balls and you are playing for High Score. So far, my highest score is 1480.
