Pachislo HE code, hopper does not spin

Hi everyone! I bought a Pachislo, specifically the one in this post: https://www.pachitalk.com/forums/sho...606#post517606

So it’s been 10 years and the previous owners never got it going and listed it last week on FB and I bought it. When I picked it up they told me the same story as posted here. They had a professional come out and the motor worked when tested in another machine. I would love to get it running properly, everything else functions as expected.

I need to get my multimeter back from my brothers to test voltages but using what knowledge we have from them, are there any good places to check? Here’s the rundown:

• button pressed for cash out coin mech reacts but hopper does not spin
• after a very short period the hopper “jerks” counter clockwise (opposite direction) and the HE error comes on
• disassembling hopper and gearbox shows motor does not even twitch when the button is pressed
• motor supposedly tested good previously when OP had someone look at it
• Wire connections seem solid. Unplugged and replaced.

I am wondering if the hopper is not getting the full 24V needed to spin the motor, or maybe it’s not getting a signal to do so at all? The small “jerk” backwards is weird, can’t help but wonder if that’s normal behavior on HE?

When I had this on a Sankyo/Bisty Beach club. machine it turned out to be the main PSU box in the bottom of the machine that the hopper plugs into. I was able to confirm the processor was sending a signal to the psu by trail and error on the ribbon cable )ie it sends a low voltage signal to tell the PSU to send power to the motor. I had to replace the PSU in teh end and that solved the problem. I couldn't be bothered to try and strip down the PSU and find out what componet as shot.

I was worried that is the issue possibly. I’d want to get my multimeter to check. I doubt there’s any pinouts, I see a used PSU on eBay but not sure I would drop any money until I k ow that’s the fix. Even then I would probably be willing to open up the PSU, but not sure how far I would/could go inside

Basically. I located the cable between the psu and processor. Locate the gnd wire and/or voltage wire (There may be a couple of different voltages.

Put a couple of tokens in. Then with multimeter connected (Pushed into the plug) between ground and a different pin. perform a token dump and see if the meter gives a different value. Then repeat with the remaining wires. (Of course, thats if it works the same way as the Sankyo)

IMG_9589.jpg Looks like one of the mofsets might be blown. I opened the PSU and traced the run and it goes in this area. I can’t think of any other reason why it would look like this. Will get multimeter maybe tonight so I can test good.

I hope the value on the bottom right of it isn’t important because it’s long gone lol.
