Sammy “the sands” looking for a way to add auto stop and a credit button.

So I recently inherited a Sammy “the sands” pachislo machine. Thinking it was made in the 80’s. Love the look of the machine and it plays pretty well.

the main board in the back says apex 701z if that helps anyone out. It doesn’t have a 30 pin connector so I’m unable to use the auto stops im seeing for newer machines. I THINK it’s an 8 pin connector for the buttons to the board but not positive.

the coin op looks to be a 3 wire that senses the coin passing through so I don’t seem to be able to simply trip it to add coins with a button.

is there anyway to add these two features? Any help would be appreciated!!

I'd guess it's from around 1989 since that's when the Apex 701 came out!!

and yep that’s the one!

it plays really nicely for the age, the hopper gets jammed occasionally, possibly weak motor. But other then that it’s wonderful and a lot of fun!

Keep it as tokens only. the coin mechs a bugger but the motor should be easy to find a replacement for or fix up. I have a machine that uses the same type of mech. As long as theres a good amount of resistance to the token eject disk, your machines in good shape. it will most likely use a spring to eject the coin from the token hopper.

I took the entire hopper apart and cleaned, greased it, and realigned it all. Now it’s working flawlessly!

sadly in my attempts to add a credit button I burned up the sensor… it’s just the tp850 that need replaced on the board. But of course I can’t find them anywhere except from china… so it will be a couple of weeks before I see them.

still wish I could figure out a way to do an auto stop for it.

Adding a credit button will be a pain since it will think theres more credits in the hopper than it has. the credit in is a 2 step system. i know from my machine

Your definitely right, doesn’t look possible, wish I had figured that out before burning the sensor up ��

Hopefully I can repair it once the new sensor arrives!

Should be a simple swap!
