'52-'53 Renpatsu-shiki All 15 Rehab
Thought I'd post a few pictures of the rehabbed, partially restored '52-'53 Renpatsu-shiki machine I picked up last month.
Thanks to the forum and members for all the great reference materials!
I completely dismantled, cleaned, soaked, and polished the front and back sides, and reassembled with stainless steel screws (only ended up with one extra mystery part).
Windex, Formula 409, Evapo-Rust, Miracle-Cloths, and vibrating tumbler have been my friends the last 3 weeks.
I did not enjoy polishing the nails in place one by one, but didn't want to take a chance on damaging the original playfield.
There were a few parts that had separated due to failed welds which I repaired with JB-Weld. Don't know if they will hold up, but I put several hundred balls through the machine tonight with no problems. The machine plays excellent, and I enjoy the different sounds of the plastic-free machine and real glass front.
Next, I want to find replacements for all the bumpers, clean up the shooting mechanism, and work on the wood frame (which still smells somewhat of mice).
