    Default Computerized Vintage Pachinko

    Found this on Facebook Marketplace.

Seller had the key, but said the lock was jammed and could not open the machine. When I got there, I couldn't open it either.

The score display did lite up when plugged in. So, without being able to look inside, I decided to take a chance on it, that the electronics were there.

Once I got it home, my first job was to get it open. It looked as if the key was not seating fully into the lock. So, I took a thin wire and put into the lock, (moving it all around) ,to maybe clear it out a bit. Put the key back in and it seated fully and was able to turn it and open up the machine. Once open, I found that everything was there and working.

Nice find Wayne-Ooo, I think I've seen a picture of one of these before, but not much else, looking forward to learning more about this machine.

Cleaned up the coin mechanism and adjusted it to take tokens. I cut a piece of copper for the coin box front and repainted the box. ( also, found $4 in quarters in the bottom of the cabinet)
I removed the cover for the transformer, to get to some loose balls, and I found the pendulum for the tilt mechanism and one of the payout pins for the jackpot.

The piece of copper behind the coin slot is a nice touch. Kind of curious about the "tilt" pendulum, I guess people would try to lift the machine off of it's stand to influence the balls direction perhaps?

    Could be.

Maybe it was something required for licensing it as a pinball type arcade machine. Or, just to keep players from beating on the machine, like some do playing pinball.

When it goes into "TILT" a solenoid is activated, pulling a lever down onto a pin of the lower part of the see-saw. This makes it so the see-saw won't pivot down and the machine will not be able to pay out balls. Also, it lowers the flag in the shooter/firing mechanism, blocking the flow of balls.

I paid $100, which seemed like a fair price, (if the machine worked). Seller was firm on price, because he had a lot of interest in the listing and could sale it to any one of the other several buyers. I just happened to be the first one who contacted him.

Not being able to open it, I was taking a chance that hopefully it worked. It did show some "proof of life", being that the score and credit lit up when plugged in.

Found $4 in quarters inside the bottom of the cabinet.

TOTAL: $96 for a fully working machine.

Without disassembling the machine, I've cleaned it and gotten everything adjusted so it can be played. After playing for a few days, I really like it. It's like playing a Arcade game.

Like any other Arcade game, you put your money in and try to get a score to gain credits and to keep playing without having to keep putting coins in.

The machine can be set between 5 different settings for a Replay Score, 80, 90,100,110 or 120 points. Payout amounts can be set between 5, 6, 9, 10 or 14 balls per pay pocket win. I have the machine set with a Replay Score of 100 and the Payout set with 6 balls. The hopper has 215 balls in it. This seems to be the perfect number of balls, for this machine.

There is a dial on the circuit board for setting the Replay score and the jackpot has 2 sets of holes drilled in it, that a short or long brass pin can slide into. This determines how many balls enter the jackpot.

(with the machine set at 100 points and a 6 ball jackpot)
To play, you deposit a coin. The jackpot pays out 3 times, giving you 18 balls to the shooter tray. The left, right and bottom center tulips all open. For every tulip or pay pocket you enter you get 10 points and one jackpot payout of 6 balls. The goal is to reach 100 points and earn a Replay before you run out of balls. If not then you would deposit another coin and try again. If you do earn a Replay, then you would push the Replay Button and it is like you deposited a coin and you get a free game.

Like the way you've been able to analyze it and figure out the various "how to's" in order to get it playing, very cool!

The machine got taken apart and I decided to do some type of custom restoration.

I think I'll start with the playfield, should come up with something, (a theme), later today.

So, I decided on a Marvel Comic Book collage for the playfield.

I also decided to add some overlays to the playfield pieces.

Everything is ready to put back together, just waiting on Dura-Lar laminate to be delivered.

I did decide to do overlays for the spinners.
