Yes, I am missing parts. Part of a spring, which you can see in the picture in my previous post with the red arrow. That is the problem. No more pictures necessary. Unless you know where to get a replacement spring or know how to MacGyver one, I guess you can't help me. But thanks though.

Its not that kind of spring(but I probably could MacGyver a fix with that kind of spring). Its like a diving board at a swimming pool. When the spring wasn't broken, it was pushing the brown wheel thats on the back of the ball launcher enough to to keep the launcher in position to allow 1 ball at a time to roll on to it after every launch. Everytime you pull down the launch lever, it bends the spring and puts tension on it. If you tension and untension a spring enough, it breaks.

I'm the one asking for help and I seem to know more about what I'm trying to fix than anyone else. LOL

What do you mean? You could be right. My father got the machine in Japan when he was in the navy during Vietnam. I assume it came from a Pachinko parlor. Maybe that spring broke alot on these machines. Its only held on by one nail, so it wouldn't be hard to replace. If it was replaced, it would've had to have been when the machine was in a parlor.

Probably, but I think it would be hard to work with.

Maybe. My explanation of how the mechanism works probably isn't quite right. I thought the post on the right was a bumper. It never occurred to me the spring was mounted on it. How could something else be mounted on the other post. I don't think there's room.

The clock spring has the swimming board bounce.. you would have to cut it down
    trial and error..
otherwise it sounds like the red stopper is not stopping a bunch of balls falling down.
think what it needs to do..
    move back in place..
there are compression springs that bounce back and In addition you could add a soft spring pull in opposite direction to help the ball closer along
I wish I had a similar machine and could show you exact pic
I understand your problem the ball closer is not closing
