Does anyone intentionally not bookmark auctions,
so as to avoid letting the seller see how popular his item is ?

I look at so much stuff on ebay if I didn't watch stuff I don't think i would ever find anything again.

As far as not watching something to avoid a seller knowing how popular something is I never thought of it.

Guess that wasn't much help.

So when I mark watch, the seller what, gets a count of those watchers?

I'm with Doo and MrG, I watch a lot of things. I've tried to find things I've seen and didn't mark and never could find them again.

Actually, when you think about it ( I try not to but sometimes... ) for the seller, he has a better idea what sort of interest his item has generated. I guess...

If you have a lot of watchers it usually means your item will sell for more money.

Yep, I just snipe and dont mark to watch. Who speedloads just 3 tokens ? Laz's son Tyler can even load 4-5 and he's just a couple years old. Mike : )

It doesn't make any difference to the final bid if the seller knows how many are watching. What would make a difference is if each bidder knew how many were watching, then they would get nervous and if sniping possibly increase their max bid. It seems that in some cases it would be an advantage to the seller if they could identify on the site how many were watching the bid, 'cause that might cause snipers to increase their max bid (but what would keep sellers from lying - maybe ebay could offer an option for the seller to do this and let ebay report the watching number on the auction site). Conversely it might cause some to say forget it (like what's happening to pachinkos on ebay now with 20-30 bids and 3-4 days to go).
