    Default Reel optical sensor

I’m new to this industry and just bought my first machine.
Been doing a lot of reading trying to figure out a problem with my machine.
I’ve narrowed it down to the stepper motor or the optical reel sensor.
I tried to replace the reel sensor with the door sensor to see if that would work but it didn’t.
the reel sensor has a number on it, 505N.
the door sensor looks the same but the number on it is 531N.
does anyone know if these two sensors would be interchangeable or where I can find the correct sensor?
the machine is an older Olympia Joker.
    Thanks for any help.

Is there an indicator light on the main board to tell you if something is active.

Without looking up the datasets. I can't tell you if they are the same. It would have made more sense to test with a sensor out of another reel and see if the fault stays with the same reel with the same motor. Or the fault went to the reel with the swapped sensor.

There are no lights on the main board.
I will try swapping reel sensors and see.
    Thanks for your reply.

I tried as you suggested and determined the stepper motor is the problem.
I have one ordered and it should be here by Saturday.
    Thanks for all your help.
