    Default Malicious programs

Just a little heads up for web surfers-
Thank goodness I'm from the old school and check my file folders all the time (first computer had an 8088 processor and a 20 meg hard drive, always deleteing stuff to save room). Was checking a few files and in the root of all my drives and partitions was an autorun.inf and install.exe (the latter 43k) dated today at 1:38pm. If my computer had been restarted, this program would have run with no virus protection what so ever (before windows or anything else ran). No idea what it was or where it came from possibly an email. I never open email while on-line (If an email contains a graphic, when that graphic is pulled from the web your email address is verified as good). Now will delete anything I don't know without opening. Norton antivirus detected nothing. Did a search for any other instances of this (same date and size) and deleted all. Not something I would have looked for normally. Downloading a couple of spyware searchers as I type! Fingers crossed!

Download that Beta Windows one. It found stuff that was invisible to the others and today it stopped some darn spy-thing from making itself a "trusted" site. I think this is one of the best out there.

I use mailwasher pro. It pulls down the headers but leaves the email on the server and I get to check it out before I download it. It will also bounce back emails to make it look like a bad email address.

    Great program, get it.

    compirate,
aw the memories. I had a Imsai S100 bus 8080 once.
It had a pachinko style blue & red flashing LED front panel,
a Giant floppy drive, dumb terminal, front mounted programing switches.
I remember the computer magazines of the time too.
    All pre-Apple stuff.
    Good memories

Always worth running these two adware proggys just for a system check :

    Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06 (free)

    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-...bj=dl&tag=top5

    And Spybot 1.4 (free)

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Don't forget to update both programs with the latest definition update file before running a scan (it will prompt you this on Ad-Aware) Might find something !
    Babel - Giga Fever - Azteca L Returns - Firedrift - K1 Lebanner - Thunder V2

    Wants : Pachinko thingy :^)

while we are on this subject, Norton keeps telling me that I have a "Downloader.trojan" norton can't delete it, can't quarntine it, and I delete the file but but every m-w-f-s-s when I have it scheduled to run it picks the gosh dang thing up again. I have updated my virus definitions, I have downloaded all the norton gadget updates and still no help. Any one got any suggestions?

I'm running the full-blown McAfee now with the MS LP/Slotter recomended. The MS found three McAfee missed.

Has MS finally done something right?
