Default Hello I'm a noob I want to learn about this machine I just bought

    Hello,
I'm new here. I just bought a really cool old pachinko machine, and I want to learn all I can about it. I'm pretty good with cars, but I'm still wet behind the ears with electronics, so I have a lot of fun learning ahead of me. Can anyone tell me about this machine? It's a Nishijin, and it has a "SuperDL" logo on front, and on the back, a plastic part with "Nishijin Sophia" on it. I saw it at a garage sale and fell in love. Even if I can't get it working, I want to hang it on the wall as an art piece, it just looks so cool.

It’s s Nishijin Model B. Nice starter machine.

It’s the most common model from the 70s available. It likely just needs a good cleaning, probably best to replace the bumper too if you want it to play like new.

Oh, cool! Yeah I really love the designs and the blue "clouds" in the corners.

So, I see it says "10V" near the power terminals (orange & yellow). Can I use one of those converters like you see at Radio Shack? (well, USED to see at Radio Shack, R.I.P.) I have a few of those "adjustable voltage" ones laying around, but I'm being extra cautious before I run ANY power to it.

The machine should work just fine without power. The playing mechanism is 100% mechanical. The power is for the lights that flash when you win or when the top hopper is out of balls.

If I am reading the inspection sticker correctly this unit was certified for usage in a pachinko parlor on May 9, 1977. It would have been used there for about a year then shipped to the US to be sold for home use.

The back of this machine looks really clean and complete. Good find. Thanks for sharing.

Nice find and welcome to the group

Yes anything of 10 volt will work fine. Even a 9 volt battery does well enough on these for the two lights.
