Question Why do Pachislos have reset keys?

Hi, im not sure this is the correct catorgory to ask this but I just cannot understand why you need an extra key to put the machine in "reset" mode, i know some machines have a switch but why dont all of them as no one can access the switch as they need the key to open the machine?

All I can think of is that the Casino operators did not want there staff to be able to change the machines settings, just look after the machine so only the higher ranked members of staff at the Casinos could change the odds with there reset key, Thats all I can think off. Thank You!

That would be a very sound deduction on your part. While the parlors management may want their employees to maintain the machines they wouldn't necessarily want them to have the ability to change the odds settings and alter their potential profits for a days business.

You pretty much answered your own question adam. As for the machines that come with a switch instead of a key it is because the key switches were taken out before they were sent over and the vendor decided to put in a switch instead of a new key switch. I'm not a purest when it comes to keeping my machines the same as in the parlors. I wish all venders just put in a switch. No key to loose.

    Hi Adam,
Ive never really thought about it as it just didnt seem like a big deal to me. But then again I didnt ( didnt!? ) know anything about speed loading either.
But I would say your assumption is, if not right on, then pretty darn close to correct. I wouldnt want everyone having access to the odds button if I ran a parlor. Hard to make YEN if the staff is making it easy for the patrons, no!?

The fewer people in control, the lesser chance of resetting the odds on a machine for your friends.

Also, the battle counters are programed and reset by a small remote and there is an employee (fewer buttons) and a managers remote.
