Miracle Panchos Arrangeball

Found this listed on Facebook Marketplace. The listing had a couple of pictures of the outside of the machine , but none of the inside. From the pictures posted, I could see that the light cover at the top of the playfield was missing, but I could probably come up with something to replace it. I asked the seller to post some pictures of the inside, knowing that if the electronics or major parts where missing, it probably wasn't something that I'd be interested in. Because finding parts would be all most impossible.

They replied and said, they couldn't post any pictures of the inside, because it was locked and they had no way to open it. But, when plugged in, some numbers did light up and it made a "humming" sound. So, I'm thinking if some numbers lit up, then probably the electronics are there and the "humming" sound was the transformer. So, I decided to take a chance on it and pick it up. It was only a 20 minute drive from my house and the price was right. $30

Once I got it home, I was able to open it by sliding a thin screwdriver between the front door and cabinet and lifting the locking mechanism off the catch. That's when I got a BIG SURPRIZE!
Mice had made this machine their home. There was a good size nest, lots of mouse droppings and a terrible smell. Luckily, no wiring was chewed up, that I could see.

So, I thought I'd go ahead and plug it in and see if worked. From what I can tell everything works, other that some lights need replaced and it is going to need a good cleaning and desanitized.
I probably replace the playfield with something custom, it is water stained pretty bad. But, first thing is to get the inside of the cabinet taken care of.

Well, it took me all day to clean the cabinet and the parts inside. The cabinet was really stained in the bottom and after cleaning and sanding, I still wasn't happy with it. So, I decided to paint it to cover all the stains. Of course, I had to first paint it with stain and odor block.

I also cleaned all the parts inside the cabinet. Some got cleaned and shined and some painted. Also added a step down transformer, so the machine will operate on 100V.

I did decide to turn it into a Speed Racer theme arrange ball. Just need to work out the playfield design.

The last dew days I have removed the playfield and taken everything off of it, front and back.
I have basically been working on the front door, removing all the parts and repainting, cleaning and shining parts.

The plastic door, (where you view the balls), was broken and had to be repaired. When you open the door glass frame, the plastic door just falls out. The corner that slides over the pin in the door glass frame was broken off and missing. I bent a piece of metal to follow the shape of the plastic door, then glued and riveted it. Glued a piece of a straw to the inside of the door, to slide over the pin on the door glass frame. The door now swings open as it should. Once it is "puttied in" and painted, it should look okay.

I did get a chance to work on the door. It is all painted and works, as it should. Doesn't fall off anymore.

A quick update.

I did decide on a playfield design, for the Speed Racer theme, and starting to put the front of the playfield back together.

I was missing the cover with the payout numbers on it. So, I was thinking that incorporating it into the playfield design would be the simplest way to solve the problem.

I did get the playfield done today.

Tomorrow, I'll work on getting all the pieces/wiring on the back put back together.
