    Default Newbie question

I am trying to troubleshoot a Super Reno Type A with motherboard YS-FT-A which was working and now does just about nothing.
The unit florescent lights up, but no payout or credit lights, no reel action.
The I/O on the motherboard indicates and most sensors appear to light the appropriate LED and the LED1 on the motherboard is lit, but nothing else functions.
I have done all the reset procedures.
Can anyone suggest what to check next, I have test equipment, but no schematics.

    Dale

Hello DLWit and welcome to the group

I do not have this machine but I'd recommend unplugging and reseating all connections as a first move. Also look to see if any wires may have been pinched in the door frame. If you recently moved the machine then something may have loosened enough to cause a problem. Other members should be along as well.

I already did those things. The machine got surged from the power going on and off at our house. I am thinking the main board or power supply, but without schematics I don't know what or where to check these?

Hi, To help us see what the status of the reset is. Try making a short video for us of doing the reset procedure slowly, showing what you are doing and panning to both sides of the front door... during each step. Thanks

I am an controls engineer and these won't do me much good since I already did most of the things they recommend.
I need help with the schematic and finding the test points and I am sure there are experienced guys that can guide me with understanding the electronics, finding schematics, and what type of tests to do to this motherboard.
That is the kind of help I am hoping to find. Thanks for the help, but not the stuff I am looking for.

If the reset switch is faulty. it can bring on these symtoms.

I would check that reset switch before proceeding, you have to eliminate the common problems. The electronics are usually healthy power surge or not.

I just checked all the switches and they all seem to work on the indicators on the motherboard. I will make a video of the reset process tomorrow.
    Thanks

Looks like the key switch is working. I still suspect a loose cable that needs attention, however you may have a rare semi conductor failure. Out of the 120 or so machines I have had only 2 of them failed beyond a simple repair, and even then I repaired one of those. I am no electronics expert, just a decent trouble shooter.

    Thanks for the input.
Do you think the reset input on the motherboard is something I should trace?
Do you know how these inputs are presented to the CPU?
I would assume they are interpreted thru some comparator and a hex code is sent to the CPU?
    Any info is certainly appreciated.

It was hard to determain in your video but looks like you are not getting any error codes so it's extremely difficult to
say what the problem is without having hands on, and sorry I have no idea about the code or the workings of the motherboard.

Just to be sure is anything displayed on the front door after the final reset step????

Both LED displays (payout and credit) on the front door do not ever display anything, that is what makes me think the motherboard is the problem?

When there is a problem usually only one front readout has an error message while the other goes blank. It's worth making absolutely sure that the readouts
and cables associated with them to the main board are re seated on both sides of the connections. That's about all I can think of right now other than try unplugging the coin mechanism harnesses and see if you can produce an error. If you can't I might be closer to agreeing that the motherboard or a semi conductor is at fault. However without going through that entire machine with my own hands odds are that it's still something simple but elusive at this point.

Well, I appreciate that you were very nice to communicate with me about this problem.
I found another motherboard online and should be here by the end of the week.
If it does work I can compare the two and hopefully fix the original.
Back in the 70s I fixed copy machines, then began designing industrial control systems up until I retired in 2020.
Do you know where I could find a schematic? Are any available?

I do not have another machine to compare, would anyone have an idea what voltages come from the power supply?
